Do you find yourself this summer with time on your hands, but no place to go?
Are most of your friends leaving the city for the Hamptons or other fun spots?
Are you bored with reruns on TV, endless "junk" emails/telemarketing calls, and solitary (now sweaty) runs in the park?
Do you sometimes wish there was some warm and welcoming body to greet you when you come home from a long day on the job or trying to hunt or haggle for the lowest supermarket prices?
Let's be honest. Life in New York City during an economic crisis and the oppressive, heavy heat and humidity of the summer is a drag.
But, there IS a way, you can bring a little summer sunshine and companionship into your life without a lifelong or heavy commitment of time or money!
You can also help save lives in the process!
Have you ever considered the summer foster of a cat or dog?
City animal shelters and rescue groups are besieged in the summer with animals abandoned when owners leave for vacations and spring and summer litters of kittens -- many arriving at shelters with their lactating mothers.
Don't want to take on a family of kittens or cats? How about fostering ONE adult cat or ONE adult dog?
Can you imagine yourself on a lazy summer afternoon casually walking your foster dog in the park (good way to meet members of the opposite sex!). Can you see yourself lounging in the grass or on a park bench with your foster dog by your side reading a book, listening to music or catching a little sun? Can you imagine sharing some evening laughs or canine stories with other dog lovers in the neighborhood dog run?
But, if socializing with other "dog nuts" is not for you, what about the easy, loving companionship of a cat?
You don't need to leave the quiet, cool comfort of your air conditioned apartment to enjoy a cat!
All you need is a lap, a hand that can pet and stroke, some cat food and a litter box.
How to get more information about possible summer foster of a cat or dog? How to get the process started?
Well, it's not hard or "complicated" at all (unlike so many other things in modern life!).
In fact, all you have to do is pick up the phone.
You don't need a Master's Degree, a truckload of money or a genius IQ.
All you need is a heart -- and the time and will to tend to and nurture it.
Call us at (212) 427-8273.
It might be one of the most fun -- and fulfilling decision you ever made! ;)

Bobby is a 7-month-old Oriental Short Hair cat who is very lively, curious, playful and affectionate. Bobby is healthy, neutered, up to date on shots and negative for FIV and FeLv. He was rescued after being abandoned near the Brooklyn boat docks. He is a very loving cat who needs a committed home where there is stimulation and preferably one or two other animals.
Spirit is a delightful, affectionate, healthy and very playful 4-month-old kitten. Spirit loves to play with dogs and cats. He enjoys being held and cuddled. Wonderful kitten! Please have another kitty or be willing to adopt Spirit with another kitty companion!
Fallah is an extremely loving, gentle and affectionate 1-year-old Calico. Good with other pets, including dogs. Healthy, neutered and up to date on shots. Wonderful kitty waiting for an equally wonderful home. Could that loving, responsible home be yours? Fallah is a sweetie! Don't miss out!
Davy is an extremely sweet and gentle 10-week-old kitten who loves playing with other kitties. Rescued from the city shelter where he had come in as a "feral kitten" with no mother and no siblings. Extremely scared at first, Davy has come around in only a few short weeks to trust people and enjoy sitting on a lap and being petted. A very sweet boy. Davy is already neutered and UTD on shots. If interested in Davy Crocket, please call us rather than email. (212) 427-8273.
Jack is a one-year-old Maine Coon whose owner went into a nursing home. Very scared in city pound. Seeking to place with Maine Coon sister, "Jill." Please call as soon as possible on these cats (212) 427-8273. Urgently need foster or adoption.
Brandon is a handsome, two year-old, declawed Ocicat mix who came into the city shelter as a "stray." Brandon is extremely loving and affectionate and also OK around other animals. He loves lots of attention and lap sitting. Totally fabulous cat. If interested in Brandon, please call us, rather than email. (212) 427-8273.
Mario is a handsome, healthy and extremely gentle and sweet 2-year-old Long-haired Tuxedo cat rescued from the back of a building. Brother to our cat, "Johnny," though the two cats do not need to be adopted together. Mario is good around other cats and dogs. A little shy in new situations until he gets adjusted. Loves being petted. Beautiful and very appealing cat. If interested in Mario, please call us at (212) 427-8273. He needs a loving and attentive home.
Ronnie is an extremely loving, gentle, playful and affectionate 6-month-old tabby kitten. Good with other pets, including dogs. Healthy, neutered and up to date on shots. Ronnie was rescued as a tiny, unweaned kitten without a Mother from the city pound. Nurtured and loved in his foster home, Ronnie is now ready for his permanent "forever" adoptive home. Please have another cat or be willing to adopt Ronnie with one of our other great kittens/cats. If intested in Ronnie or learning more about him, please call us at (212) 427-8273. Ronnie is a total LOVER!
Treasure is a young (11-months-old) Tuxedo kitten rescued from the city pound. Treasure is very gentle, great around other pets and sweet. Although a little shy with new people and new situations, Treasure is as his name implies: A treasure. Treasure is neutered, very healthy and generally, a quiet well behaved cat. Should go into a home with at least one other kitty. If interested in Treasure, please call us at (212) 427-8273. He is a sweetie.
Sparkle, like her name implies, is a lively, affectionate and very healthy kitty who loves life and play. Sparkle particularly loves playing wrestle games with other cats -- especially boys. She is a bit of a "tomboy" as far as cats go. With people, Sparkle is a very gentle and loving "lap cat." She would be a great cat for a family with kids or other pets (as long as other pets like to play). Sparkle was rescued from the city shelter when her time ran out. Spayed and up to date on shots. If interested in this little "live wire" please call us at (212) 427-8273. You will never be bored with Sparkle around!
Missy and Sissy are wonderful, 1-year-old sisters who were rescued as scared kittens off the Euthanasia list of our city shelter. It took the frightened little "strays" time to trust people, but now Missy and Sissy are the most affectionate, playful, healthy, spayed and loving girls one could hope for! Sissy is the more reserved, but affectionate of the two cats. She loves to snuggle on her person's lap and purr. Her sister, Missy, by contrast is the more outgoing of the two cats and loves to PLAY. Missy especially loves "play wrestling" with her human and delights when one roughhouses with her. She is quite the character! Both cats are truly wonderful and add so much life and fun to the home. Because they have been together since birth and delight in each other's company, it is important that Missy and Sissy be adopted together. If seeking fun and companionship in your life in the company of these two exceptional, loving cats, please call us at (212) 427-8273. It might well be the best call you ever made!
Gimpy is an extremely loving, gentle and affectionate 4-month-old Ocicat mixed kitten. Good with other pets, including dogs. Healthy, spayed and up to date on shots. Gimpy was rescued from the city pound where she was on the Euth list for being scared. She is still a little shy when first going into new situations, but she is a loving purr ball. Adorable cat! We are seeking a loving, responsible and cat experienced home for Gimpy. She will either need to be adopted with another kitty or go into a home with a young cat already in the home. If interested in adorable Gimpy, please call us (212) 427-8273. She is a sweetie!
Gabby is a two-year-old, Abyssinian mix cat who came into the city shelter as a stray and ended up on the Euthanasia list. We pulled Gabby and though very noisy and a little high strung when first rescued, Gabby has settled in very nicely in his foster home. Gabby gets along with other animals and is social with people. He likes being petted and doesn't mind being picked up. He comes when called. An all around nice cat who is quite good looking and enjoys the good life. If interested in Gabby, please call us, rather than email (212) 427-8273. Gabby is going to make a very good companion for some lucky person!
Cream is a little cream puff of a kitty, thus the name. Cream is a 4-month-old, extremely affectionate and craving lots of human attention kitten whose favorite thing in life is being on her person's lap. Cream was rescued from the Euth list of the city shelter. There are simply too many cats and kittens being abandoned and not enough homes for them. Cream was one of the lucky ones to get saved. But, now she needs her permanent and forever home. Could that be you? Cream is already spayed and up to date on shots. Great with other pets. If interested in this little cream of the crop girl, please call us at (212) 427-8273. Cream is a-waitin!
Dolce is an extremely loving, gentle and affectionate 1-year-old Tortie kitty who came into the city shelter as a "stray" shortly after having kittens. Though passed for Adoptions, Dolce failed to be adopted in time and instead, ended up on the shelter Euthanasia list. We pulled Dolce and she is currently in a foster home waiting once again for adoption. Dolce is good with other pets, including dogs. However, she would be just as happy to be a "one and only" kitty. Healthy, neutered and up to date on shots. Wonderful kitty waiting for an equally wonderful home. Could that loving, responsible home be yours? If interested in lovely, gentle and loving, Dolce, please call us (not email!). (212) 427-8273. This highly adoptable cat has waited long enough for her special person(s).
Baby Blue is a five-month-old neutered "Russian Blue" type kitten. We call him "Baby Blue" because he loves to be cuddled, held and stroked like a human baby. Baby is extremely affectionate, playful and he loves other cats. He also loves sleeping in his person's lap. Baby was rescued from the Euthanasia list of our city pound after he had come in as a "feral kitten." Though very scared in his first few weeks with us, he has since settled in to become one of the most loving kitties on the planet! Baby Blue is particularly chummy with one of our other kittens. His playmate is "Jody," an equally affectionate, spayed tabby kitten. We would ideally love to adopt these two kittens out together. If interested in adopting you must either have another cat OR (preferably) adopt Baby Blue with his little girlfriend, Jody -- also pictured above. Please have committed cat owning experience. And please CALL us, rather than email (212) 427-8273.
Ruby is an extremely loving, gray and white, 7-year-old cat who was, for 6 years, the victim of her former owner's misfortune. Ruby's previous guardian was murdered. Ruby then spent the next 6 years living in the empty apartment of a building that was otherwise abandoned. The super of another building came everyday to feed Ruby and give her a little human attention. Although the man made many attempts to find Ruby a home, no one was willing to take the cat. Finally, the building was slated for demolition. The super, then desperate, approached us for help. Ruby has now been rescued, vetted, spayed and is currently in a temporary foster home. But, Ruby needs to find the loving, forever home she has waited so long for. Could that be you? Ruby, having been so deprived of human attention for so long, now thrives on it. She would make a wonderful companion cat for someone seeking an affectionate, one and only lap kitty. Please call us if interested in Ms. Ruby. (212) 427-8273. Its time for this little gal's luck to finally turn around!
Goldie is a lively, affectionate, healthy and sweet, 2-year-old, orange tabby spayed female cat rescued from the animal pound after she and her brother were abandoned by owners claiming "no time for." Goldie is good around other pets, curious and very pretty. She would be a great cat for a family or someone simply seeking a cheerful companion. It is unusual for an orange cat to be a female. More than 80% are males. So, if you are a person who likes the unusual, as well as just a real nice kitty in your home, Goldie may be the cat for you! If interested in pretty Goldie, please call us at (212) 427-8273. She is a total charmer!
Sunny(like his name implies) is a gregarious, playful, curious and extremely loving, gentle and affectionate 2-year-old kitty who was dumped at the city pound by owners who claimed to "have no time" for their cat. Sunny is good with other pets, including dogs. He is very healthy, neutered and up to date on shots. The best home for Sunny would be one where he might have another buddy cat to play with. Sunny is a wonderful and handsome kitty waiting for an equally wonderful home. Could that loving, responsible home be yours? If interested in Sunny, please call us at (212) 427-8273 and bring a little "sun" into your life!
Princess is an adult, extremely healthy, affectionate and beautiful, Orange Tabby female cat who is one more victim of a bad economy. The restaurant that represented Princess' home for the past several years went out of business and Princess and her companion cat, "Lucy" ended up in the city pound. Rescued and now in foster, Princess has proven herself to be a total love! Because of constantly being around many people when living in the restaurant, Princess is extremely outgoing, social, playful and chock full of good cheer! She is truly a "one in a million cat" with her lively and loving disposition! Princess loves to "retrieve" balls and crumpled pieces of paper. She loves being around many people. And she especially LOVES rubbing up against your legs and getting some good petting! Can you offer Princess a loving home and warm bed? If so, she will reward you for years with her warm and whimsical purrsonality and happy disposition. Princess is spayed, healthy and good around other pets and kids. If interested in Princess please call us (NOT email) at (212) 427-8273! Don't miss out on this loving little purrball who will bring nothing but laughs, smiles and tons of amusement!
Lucy is an adult, extremely healthy, affectionate and beautiful, Dilute Calico cat who is one more victim of a bad economy. The restaurant that represented Lucy's home for the past several years went out of business and Lucy and her companion cat, "Princess" ended up in the city pound. Rescued and now in foster, Lucy has proven herself to be a total love! Because of constantly being around many people when living in the restaurant, Lucy is extremely outgoing, social, playful and chock full of good cheer! She is truly a "one in a million cat" with her lively and loving disposition! Lucy loves being picked up and held. She loves cuddling. She loves being around many people. And she especially LOVES sleeping in the bed! --One thing Lucy didn't have in the restaurant!. Can you offer Lucy a loving home and warm bed? If so, she will reward you for years with her warm and wonderful purrsonality and happy disposition. Lucy is spayed, healthy and good around other pets and kids. If interested in Lucy, please call us (NOT email) at (212) 427-8273! Don't miss out on this loving little purrball who will bring nothing but laughs and smiles!
Ellie is a 3 month old, black (Bombay type) kitten rescued from a woodpile in the backyard of a Brooklyn catering company. Rosie is a 2 month old, beautiful Calico rescued from the city shelter Euthanasia list. Even though both came from rough surroundings they are as sweet and lovable as can be. Both are like your shadow and love to be where you are purring on cue. They love to be petted and doted on. Both are extremely playful, have a lot of energy and get along great with other animals. They have all their shots and are spayed. Because of their high energy they will either need to be adopted together or go into a home with a young cat already in the home. If interested in adorable Ellie and Rosie, please call us (212) 427-8273. (NOT email!) They're so sweet!
Diva is an extremely loving, gentle, obedience trained, 5-year-old, 45lb, Rodesian Ridgeback mix who came into the city shelter after her former owner had a stroke. Diva walks well on the leash, is housebroken, very responsive to commands and is good around other pets. Despite being a lovely and well behaved dog, we don't have a place to immediately put Diva and are seeking a foster or adoptive home. As of 3-29-06, she is still at Animal Control (in adoptions). If interested in either fostering or adopting, Diva please call us at (212) 427-8273 as SOON as possible. You won't regret it. This is a GREAT dog!!!
Kia, because of her loving and gentle ways with people was a favorite of volunteers and staffers at the Animal Control shelter where she was left by a family, claiming the "wife doesn't want the dog around anymore" because the woman was pregnant again. Kia is easy to walk, housebroken, great with men, women and kids and loves to please. Very good in apartment and also good in cars. Extremely nice dog who needs a committed home. If interested in Kia, please call us at (212) 427-8273.
Snoopy is an adult (about 6-years-old) German Shepherd mix who was abandoned by his former owners in late January ("Moving") and rescued within only a few hours of being euthanized. During the course of his two months in foster care, Snoopy has transformed from an extremely scared and sad dog into a loving and loyal friend. Snoopy is intelligent and loyal, and people in the neighborhood often comment about how beautiful-looking he is. He is neutered, completely house-trained, and is very calm indoors; he can be left alone during the course of a workday or for the evening without barking and disrupting neighbors. Though he did not seem accustomed to going on walks when he was first placed in foster care, he now does very well on a leash and loves going on long walks in the park. An ideal home for Snoopy would be in a house with a yard and/or with people who can give him plenty of exercise, and with owners who are experienced with German Shepherds or Dobermans. The current foster parents often travel for work during the summer months, so it is critical that we place Snoopy in a new foster or adoptive home as soon as possible. Can you help us to complete the miracle of Snoopy’s eleventh-hour rescue and provide him with the loving home that he craves? Please call (212) 427-8273.
The old Elvis hit chimed, "A hunk, a hunk of burning love." That well describes "Snoop" who is the most lovable hunk of a German Shepherd Dog you will ever meet! Like a big, teddy bear, Snoop loves hugs and attention. Sadly, his former owners must have made July 4th holiday plans which didn't include Snoop. They dropped him off at the city shelter just prior to the big holiday weekend with the excuse, "Can't afford." Snoop cried after them for several days. How do we explain to a grieving, abandoned dog that their former people didn't want to pay boarding expenses? Snoop is 7-years-old, 110 lbs and is noted by former owners to be totally housebroken, easy to walk on lead, and "LOVES KIDS, CATS, DOGS AND PEOPLE!" But, one look into Snoop's warm and soft eyes would tell us all we need to know about him. This is a fantastic and beautiful dog who would delight anyone seeking a loving, "gentle giant" companion. If interested in handsome Snoop, PLEASE CALL US (212) 427-8273. We can't imagine having this "hunk a hunk of burning love" for too long!
Jessie was living in a basement with an old man and three other (smaller) dogs. When a new landlord took over the building, he demanded that all the dogs be removed from the basement. Jessie and her canine companions all came into the city pound. While the little dogs went out to rescue, Jessie failed to get rescued or adopted and instead, ended up on the shelter Euth list. We have temporarily pulled her off, but she needs urgent foster or preferably, adoption. Jessie is a lovely, 2-year-old, Hound/Ridgeback/Staffie mix who is obviously good around other dogs, easy to walk, healthy, seemingly housebroken, gentle, quiet, affectionate and not very big (about 45 lbs). Though a little timid at first, Jessie responds well to gentle handling and a pat on the head. Can you help us save this LOVELY dog? If so, please CALL US at (212) 427-8273 as soon as possible. Jessie is going to make a really nice dog for some lucky person or family.
Chichi is a two-year-old, 43 lb delightful Chow mix rescued from the city shelter. Chichi was surrendered by a family claiming to "have no time" for their dog. Chichi is very intelligent, eagar to please and learn, totally housebroken, good in an apartment, good around other dogs and presently learning to be a nice boy around cats. Chichi loves playing with other dogs in the dog run and he enjoys lively walks. The best home for him would be one that could allow Chichi ample opportunity for exercise and play, while at the same time, devoting time to teaching Chichi all the things young dogs need to be happy, good dogs in a city or country environment. As said, Chichi is very smart and anxious to please. If interested in Chichi, please CALL us, rather than email. (212) 427-8273. Chichi is a wonderful dog and would make an adoring, loyal and companionable pet to almost any loving and committed home.
Roxy is a delightful, loving, responsive and very friendly mixed breed dog (part Pit, Rhodesian Ridgeback and/or other type of hound) who was tied up to a pole and abandoned shortly after having puppies. Roxy was picked up by Animal Control and brought into the shelter full of milk. At first, Roxy was very stressed and depressed (probably due to being separated from litter). When walked on a leash, she pulled frantically to "get back" to wherever she came from. But, throughout her anxiety, Roxy remained very friendly with kennel staffers and tries to please. Roxy is about 4-years-old and in good health. She appears to be housebroken, crate trained and she is friendly around other dogs. But, the best thing about Roxy is that seems very responsive to training! Roxy "sits" on command and though initially strong on a leash, Roxy learns quickly to walk beside a person. She is a very obedient and intelligent dog. Currently, Roxy is still at the city pound. She was not put into Adoptions due to lactation (though that is now dissipated) and ended up on the Euth list. We pulled Roxy off the list, but urgently need to find either a foster or adoptive home for her within 48 hours. Can you help Roxy? Time is fast running out on this discarded Mama's life despite Roxy being a "favorite" of at least one kennel staffer. Roxy's foster or adopter should have basic knowledge about and experience with dogs. But, most of all, Roxy needs someone with a tender and open heart who can appreciate a loving, devoted dog. There is a world of marvelous potential in Roxy. She just needs someone who can recognize and work with it. If you can help Roxy, please CALL US immediately (NOT email). (212) 427-8273. Roxy doesn't have the luxury of time on her side. Thank You!
Buddy is a handsome and equally sweet and gentle 4-year-old, Flat Coated Retriever/Chow mix who was abandoned by a family to the pound when former owners "moved." Buddy was described by former owners as "Housebroken" and "Loves men, women, children, other dogs and cats." Buddy is a pleasure to walk and appears as if he has been well trained. He is an extremely nice dog who would be a great addition to any loving, responsible home. Though he may look "big" in his pictures, (due to his coat), Buddy is only 37lbs. He is not a big dog at all. Currently, we are boarding Buddy at our vet, but we would love to find a temporary foster (or, ideally, an adoptive) home for him as soon as possible. If seeking a cheerful, loving, devoted "family" dog who is good with other pets and kids, Buddy might be the perfect dog! Please CALL us (NOT email) if seeking more information or interested in Buddy. (212) 427-8273. He is a winner!
Charlotte was picked up by Animal Control in a Bronx parking lot right off the highway. She was brought into the city pound, where vets estimated, "Dog has been on streets a long time." Depressed, "lost" and appearing ill, Charlotte was designated for euthanasia as soon as the 3-day "stray wait" was over. -- obviously, no one was coming to retrieve this long abandoned dog. Fortunately for Charlotte however, a shelter volunteer noticed the forlorn dog, walked Charlotte and took a couple of pictures of her. In a 'Hail Mary" kind of pass, the volunteer emailed a touching notice out to several rescue groups who work with the shelter: "An older, very neglected Chow mix whose given up on life....hasn't known love in a long time, if ever." One of those rescue groups was us and we were the people to respond to Charlotte. She has, for now, been removed from the Euthanasia List, but we desperately need to find a loving and caring foster or adoptive home Charlotte. Aside from being grungy, scruffy and long neglected, Charlotte nevertheless is basically healthy and EXTREMELY RESPONSIVE TO LOVE AND TENDERNESS. She is a quiet, gentle dog who seems to like other animals. She walks nicely on the leash and is housebroken. Charlotte will, in fact be a BEAUTIFUL dog in every way with just a little care and compassion. Can you open your heart to a lovely canine, long down on "luck" and the milk of human kindness, but only to happy to respond? Charlotte is up to date on shots, healthy and simply seeks a kind heart and human hugs to nuzzle up to. If interested in Charlotte, please CALL US immediately (NOT email). (212) 427-8273. If might well be the best decision you have ever made!
Abby is a two-year-old, Chow who, along with another dog, was living in a Bronx parking lot. Picked up by Animal Control and brought to the city pound, Abby was on the Euthanasia list 3 days later, while her companion Rottie mix was saved by a rescue group. We were fortunate to find a reliable and caring foster person for Abby and were able to rescue her from her date with death. Abby is currently doing very well in her temporary foster home. Abby is totally housebroken, great in an apartment, extremely loving and sweet, spayed and healthy. She loves going for walks and saying "Hi" to other dogs. Abby is a cheerful dog despite her rough past. She is, in fact, an ideal pet for almost any situation -- working home, city apartment or country home. A lovely, easygoing, engaging dog. If interested in Abby, please CALL us (not email) (212) 427-8273. You will not be disappointed in this pretty and happy girl. Abby aims to please!
Boomer is a 2 year old pit mix picked up as a stray by the AC&C. He is extremely QUIET and sweet. (The shelter worker we talked to said that he hasn't barked once since he's been there.) Rated a "No Concern" by the shelter, Boomer is completely MELLOW and aloof to his surroundings. He is content to sit quietly in his cage and wait for a kind glance or a volunteer to walk him. Boomer sure does love walks! After his walk, he quietly and compliantly saunters back into his cage, where he waits to be noticed. He seems to have never been given affection, and appears to be a bit timid at first. But he quickly warms up to you and gives lots of sweet little kisses. He may be intimidating to look at, but I can assure you, this mellow SWEETHEART of a dog would be a WONDERFUL and LOYAL companion to a very special person. Could it be you? Please call Patty ASAP if you are interested: (212) 427-8273. His time is running out! Thanks!
"Fancy" is a 4-year-old, very friendly and loving, Hound/Staffie/Lab mix who came into the city shelter after being tied up and abandoned on a Bronx rooftop. Despite receiving an excellent "Behavior Evaluation" at the shelter and being in "Adoptions," Fancy, sadly failed to get adopted in time and has ended up on the Euthanasia list. Temporarily, pulled off the list, Fancy now has 48 hours to either find emergency foster or adoption. Fancy is a cheerful, healthy, enthusiastic and handsome looking dog who seems housebroken, good around other dogs and of affectionate disposition. He would be a great dog for a family or adopters who enjoy a lively, gentle and devoted pet. If interested in meeting, fostering or adopting Fancy, please CALL US IMMEDIATELY, (212) 427-8273 as Fancy is fast running out of his temporary reprieve. Can you help save him? We are sure that Fancy will love you for the rest of his life if you do.
Poor,Panda Bear. Unceremoniously dumped at the city pound by uncaring owners who claimed to have "No Time For" him anymore, Panda was one sorry sight. Obviously, neglected for many years, it is hard to know exactly how old Panda is. His nails were growing into his feet, he was filthy, matted and he smelled badly. We suspect Panda must have been tied up in a yard or filthy basement for a very long time. Despite the mal treatment of his past, this smallish, Border Collie/Chow mix is sweet and thrives on tender affection. As an older dog (about 8 to 10), Panda doesn't need tons of exercise or constant attention. He just needs someone to care about him. -- A loving pat on the head, a soft caress, daily walks, a soft bed and good food would be heaven to Panda! Due to his longtime neglect, Panda is a little stiff in the back legs and would not be suitable for a 4th or 5th floor walkup apartment. However, a home with other pets or even gentle, older children would seemingly be fine. We are seeking a reliable and loving foster or adoptive home for Panda as he is presently in the city pound. Before sending to any home, Panda will be washed and groomed and will be updated on shots. Please help us show Panda there is another side to humans very different from what this pathetic, neglected dog has experienced in the past. Please help us show Panda, humans can care. If seeking to help save Panda, please CALL US (NOT email!) at (212) 427-8273. Time is of the essence!
Minnie is a lovely, 5-year-old Chow Chow who came into the city shelter after being cruelly tied up and abandoned in the Bronx. It is hard to understand how anyone could so coldly discard this sweet, gentle and loving dog. Minnie is extremely well behaved and cooperative (even in the shelter) and seems to have had training. She is easy to walk, seemingly housebroken, relaxed and easygoing around other animals (including cats, seemingly) and quiet. She seems to love people. Currently, Minnie is still in the city pound. We are seeking either a reliable foster or preferably, adoptive home for this sweet and gentle soul. If interested in lovely Minnie, please CALL us immediately (212) 427-8172 (not email). She is a super, super nice dog who everyone loves at the shelter. But, Minnie needs someone capable of commitment. Could that be you?
Molly is an adorable and extremely sweet, 5-year-old, 13 lbs, Chihuahua/Boston Terrier/Pug mix dog who arrived at the city shelter as a so-called, "stray." But, its obvious that Molly had come from a home. She is gentle, trusting and a bit on the "pudgy" side. Molly enjoys being picked up and held. She is a quiet and very calm dog and seems peaceful around other pets. An ideal pet for a city apartment or laid back home, Molly is both a cutie and a winner. Terrific little dog who would be a wonderful addition to any loving and responsible home. Please have committed dog ownership experience and a checkable vet referance if considering Molly for adoption. You must CALL us (not email!) if serious about Molly. Due to her wonderful temperament and adorable looks, it is certain we will not have Molly long!
Mushy (like his name implies) is an extremely loving, gentle, fully trained and housebroken, "mushy" Flat Coated Retriever mix who was abandoned at the city shelter along with a companion dog when the owners claimed they "no longer had time" for their pets. Mushy was indicated by former home to be "great with kids, other dogs, men and women." He is extremely easy to walk, knows "heel" and other basic commands and loves other dogs. Mushy is 7-years-old, neutered and very healthy. He is about 62lbs. Because of his loving temperament and endearing personality, Mushy has quickly become a favorite of shelter staffers. They have sent out several rescue "Alerts" on Mushy, but so far no one has stepped up to save him. Can you help us save Mushy by either fostering or adopting him? If so, PLEASE CALL US IMMEDIATELY (212) 427-8273. Unless we can find an emergency foster or adoptive home for Mushy as soon as possible, he stands a good chance of dying at the pound. Both time and cage space are running out for this wonderful dog who is simply, too nice to die. Please help save Mushy!
Sheba is a beautiful and extremely gentle, fully trained and loving, 5-year-old, German Shepherd/Collie mix who was abandoned at the city shelter after her former owners "moved." Rescued and currently in a foster home, Sheba has been nothing but a joy to her foster family. Sheba is wonderful around CATS, fully housebroken, well behaved in an apartment, easy to walk and loving of human attention. She would be a wonderful dog to any loving, responsible home. If interested in beautiful Sheba, please call us (NOT email) at (212) 427-8273. As she is a joy in her foster home, Sheba will bring nothing but love, devotion and cheer to the people lucky enough to adopt her. She is a fabulous dog!
Randy is a 4-year-old, very handsome and equally sweet and easy to handle, Chow/Samoyed mix who came into the city shelter with another dog after his owners were evicted. Randy is gentle and affectionate with people, good around other dogs, a pleasure to walk on leash, housebroken, and generally, a quiet and laid back dog. At only 48lbs, Randy is a not a large or powerful dog, but he is healthy and enthusiastic about life. He enjoys long walks and meeting new people and other dogs. He was a shelter favorite and did well on temperament evaluations. If interested in handsome Randy, please CALL us, (not email) at (212) 427-8273. Randy will be a wonderful addition to any loving and responsible home!
Adriene is a one-year-old, very healthy, devoted and affectionate Rhodesian Ridgeback mix who came into the city shelter as a "stray." Initially timid and frightened in the pound, Adriene has flowered into a totally delightful dog when finally rescued and going to one of our loving, experienced foster homes. Adriene is HOUSEBROKEN, GREAT WITH KIDS, CATS AND OTHER DOGS. She would be an ideal dog for an active family or home with other pets. Adriene likes to "retrieve" balls and lives to please her people. She is a vibrant, young beauty who simply seeks those who can appreciate and reciprocate her love. Could that be you? If interested in sweet Adriene, please CALL us (not email!) at (212) 427-8273. Adriene has many years of loyalty and love to give to the right people!
Jindol is a very handsome and equally gentle, laid back and sweet Husky/Jindo/Shiba Inu mix who was abandoned at the city pound by a family that was "moving." Jindol is approximately 6-years-old, healthy, totally housebroken, easy to walk, GOOD WITH OTHER DOGS AND CATS! He is only 45 lbs -- nice size for the city. Jindol is quiet and good in an apartment and, according to former owners, good with children, men and women. Currently, Jindol is in a very temporary and emergency foster home where he is behaving like the perfect dog. But, we really need a real (and loving, committed) home for Jindo. Could that be you? If interested in this peaceful, gentle dog, please call us at (212) 427-8273. Jindol is going to make someone very happy. He is a wonderful dog!
Champ is a beautiful and gentle 4-year-old Collie mix who arrived at the city shelter as a very frightened "stray." Although in good condition and seemingly owned, no one came forth to claim Champ and he has ended up on the shelter Euthanasia list. We have temporarily pulled him off (to buy time) but have NO open fosters or boarding spaces to put Champ. Unless emergency foster can be found within 48 hours for Champ, this beautiful dog will die! Champ seems like a very sweet dog. OK around other animals and a generally easygoing laid back kind of temperament. Can you help us save Champ? If so, you need to CALL us IMMEDIATELY. (212) 427-8273. Adoption of Champ would be preferable and wonderful. But, we at least need temporary foster to give us time to find a loving permanent home for Champ. PLEASE HELP! This sweet dog's life hangs in the balance!
Nia is a 3-year-old, Shepherd/Stafffie mix who ended up at the city pound shortly after she had puppies. No one knows what happened to Nia's puppies, but we do know that Nia is a great Mom who loves not only canine kids, but human kids as well! Whatever home Nia originally came from, it must have been with children, because Nia totally lights up when children are around! Nia is a very gentle, sweet dog. She is housebroken, loyal, quiet, devoted, healthy and comes when she is called. She would be an ideal dog for a family or just someone who had a special place in their hearts for those "ordinary mutts" who are so often overlooked in city shelters. Nia was on the Euthanasia list when we pulled her for rescue. Now, she needs to find her forever home, where she can be loved and appreciated for the truly unique dog she is. Could that be you? If interested in loving Nia, please call us at (212) 427-8273. Nia is a special dog who will make some lucky person or family very happy.
Abbey is a beautiful, 4-year-old, spayed ChowChow who lost her home due to "allergies" claimed by one of her owners. Currently, Abbey is sitting in the city shelter and needs to find a foster or adoptive home as quickly as possible. According to past guardians, Abbey "loves men, women and other dogs." She is totally housebroken, good in an apartment and good in a car. (Abbey has, apparently never been around cats.) Abbey is a little sad and depressed in the shelter, but responds well to kind words and gentle handling. Chows are very loyal and devoted dogs and need equally committed and devoted people. Can you be the life saving angel that Abbey so urgently needs right now? If so, please call us as soon as possible. (212) 427-8273.
Sasha is a 4-year-old, beautiful, white Shepherd mix who came into the city shelter as a "stray." Frightened at first, Sasha ended up on the Euth list after only a few days. (Unfortunately, shelters are so packed during the summer, many animals don't get sufficient time to relax and acclimate to their new and strange surroundings.) But, a shelter volunteer noticed Sasha and put out a plea for her. We pulled Sasha from the Euth list, but now need to find a reliable foster or committed adoptive home for her. Sasha is only 45 lbs (NOT big!) and is extremely sweet, outgoing and seems to love people and other dogs. She is easy to walk on a leash! Sasha is a little thin, but otherwise healthy and now spayed. Can you find it in your heart and home to find a place for Sasha? She is truly a LOVELY, intelligent dog who is simply seeking someone to love. If you can represent that special person to Sasha, please CALL us (NOT email) at (212) 427-8273. We are very sure, Sasha will bring nothing but love, loyalty, devotion and joy to that special (lucky) person or family who adopts her! Don't hesitate!
Honey is a 2-year-old, (former Mama) Staffie Terrier wo is nothing but KISSES and LOVE (hence her name) to everyone she meets! Honey arrived at the city shelter as a "stray" and has quickly endeared herself to all shelter volunteers and staffers. She is adorable looking! Short, a bit squat and compact and only 36lbs! Honey walks well on the leash and minds her own business around other dogs. She has tons of enthusiasm and love of life and people. She would make a wonderful family dog. She would be a great companion for a reasonably active person who enjoys a morning or evening jog. Honey was in adoptions at the city shelter, but failed to get adopted in the very crowded pound in time. She is now on the EUTH list! We have temporarily pulled her off, but urgently need to find emergency foster or preferably, adoption. Can you help us save Honey? If so, PLEASE CALL US IMMEDIATELY (212) 427-8273. Honey has too much love and good cheer to offer to die so young. PLEASE, please help us save her!
Eve is an extremely loving, gentle, and sweet soul of a dog who arrived at the city shelter when her former owner became homeless. Eve loves people, is well socialized, trained, mellow, healthy and easy to walk. She is good around other dogs and we imagine she could even be with cats. Eve would be the perfect dog for almost any situation: Active family living in the country or busy working person living in a city apartment.. She is quiet and housebroken. While Eve loves going for walks, she is not a dog who would require hours of hard exercise or multiple walks. She is a little older -- around 6 or 7. She is not a very big dog (approximately 45 lbs). Eve was in Adoptions at the very crowded city shelter, but failed to get adopted in time. She ended up on the shelter EUTH LIST. We have temporarily pulled her, but have no immediate foster or placement. Can you help SAVE EVE by either fostering or adopting her? She has been a favorite of shelter volunteers and staffers. Everyone recognizes what a great dog Eve is! But, we need a member of the public to see the beauty in Eve! Please CALL US immediately if you can help save Eve by offering temporary sanctuary, or preferably, a permanent, loving home. (212) 427-8273. This loving, gentle spirit should not have to die before her time!
MAMA: 11 mo female (now spayed) black Chow Chow, who arrived at city shelter on 6/28/08, Owner Surrender (owned 5 months, "landlord will not allow").
Former owner of Mama claimed she "loves everybody," enjoys playing, but at the same time is a "couch potato." The owner didn't have time for the 11-month-old puppy. He only walked her once a day. As a result, Mama will need to learn basic training and housebreaking. (Chows are generally very easy to housebreak dogs. But, like all dogs, they need to be walked more than once a day. This is particularly true for a puppy!). Due to the shelter being packed with dogs and cats this time of the year, (many animals are abandoned just prior to major holidays and vacations) Mama ended up on the shelter Euthanasia list only one day after being dropped off! We have temporarily pulled Mama from her date with death, but have NO open foster homes to put her! Can you help save this friendly and sweet pup by either fostering or adopting Mama? TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. If you can help us save Mama, please CALL us immediately (212) 427-8273. (DO NOT EMAIL!) There is no time to waste on this potential rescue. Mama needs an angel who can come and save her.
Titi A766618 (pulled from euth list, but SLATED TO BE EUTHANIZED ON TUESDAY)
A VOLUNTEER WROTE: On 6/21/08, two year old Titi was surrendered by her owner. He said he had owned her for two years, but had no room in his apartment. Titi was very frightened when she first arrived at the Shelter. The OS told us that she loves all people, is friendly and playful, but is agitated by small dogs. She approaches other dogs without being scared, although she prefers the calm ones (who wouldn't?). Titi was very frightened when she first arrived at the shelter, and she's still camera shy. But this volunteer was able to spend some quality time with her, and Titi came to lie down next to her. She'll often give you quick kisses. She's easy to walk on a leash, is not hyper or scattered. She's a delicate looking dog (she weighs only 41 pounds), and this volunteer saw no food aggression. In fact, she took food nicely from her hands. Now she's so happy to get out of her cage, that she welcomes you at her cage door. Her owner said she spent all day in a backyard and was allowed in only at night. We suspect that Titi was not very well socialized. Yet, she's a bright young girl (only around 2 years old), and has the potential to be a great and loyal dog, providing she goes to the right owner. She has great ears!!! If interested in helping us to save Titi, you MUST call us immediately (212) 427-8273. (NOT EMAIL!) Time is of the essence in trying to save Titi as she is scheduled to be euthanized on Tuesday. (July 1st). PLEASE, PLEASE HELP SAVE HER!
Jason, a 5-year-old, Lhasa Apso/Shih-Tzu mix arrived at the city shelter as a very frightened, "stray" in late June of this year. He was filthy, matted and disheveled. One of the dedicated shelter volunteers, bathed and shaved Jason. The volunteer is one of the few people in the shelter Jason fully trusts and positively responds to. But, the smallish, 21 lb Lhasa Apso is cage aggressive and seemingly fearful and distrustful of almost everything else around him. The shelter is packed with animals this time of year and the noises, stress and strangeness can be terrifying to smaller dogs. We met Jason at the shelter last week and he was very friendly with us when out of the cage and Jason seemed perfectly fine around other dogs. But, attempts to place Jason or find responsible, emergency foster have so far, met with failure. All of our regular foster homes are full. Jason needs a dog savvy foster (or adopter) with experience and knowledge on how to deal with fearful, insecure and formerly neglected dogs. We are confident, Jason will do great when once out of the stress of the shelter and with someone he can feel comfortable with -- as many other rescues have proved. The problem is, we don't have that special "someone" who is either willing or capable enough to take the chance on Jason. Shelter staffers have been patient in giving us more time with Jason -- but, so far it hasn't materialized into anything and we are very much running out of time now with the little Lhasa mix whose head is, once again, "under the gun." (I.e. facing euthanasia.) The problem with this time of year, is that the "pool" of potential fosters and/or adopters is greatly diminished due to traveling and vacations. We would hate to see this adorable, housebroken and full of life little dog with so much potential fall to the perils of the season. Can you help us save Jason either through emergency foster or adoption? If so, you MUST CALL us immediately (212) 427-8273 as there is NO time to waste through emails, hesitation or other plans. This little dog needs to get out of the shelter yesterday. Every minute Jason is there is "borrowed time" and there is nothing left anymore to borrow or beg for. Please call us if you are able and willing to help save Jason.
Noah is a 4-year-old, black Chow Chow who was brought into the city shelter as a so-called, "stray." He is 54lbs, healthy, (about to be) neutered, housebroken, seemingly good around other dogs and easygoing/.laid back. We don't know about Noah's "history" but we can guess. Typically, during the summer, many animals are dumped at shelters when people go away. Dog boarding is expensive and many boarding places are full. Unless people book in advance, it can be hard to get dogs into boarding facilities when vacation time rolls around. Moreover, some places will not accept Chows. Frustrated or unable to afford the high costs of boarding, many owners eiher abandon the animals in streets or bring them to pounds. Shelters become quickly filled and are forced to euthanize (kill) animals in order to create space. Noah ended up on the Euth list of the shelter, not because he did anything "wrong" but simply because he displays the typical behavior of Chows with people they don't know: Aloof and somewhat withdrawn. We have temporarily pulled Noah from the Euth list, but have NO open fosters in which to put him. We are seeking an EMERGENCY FOSTER person/situation for Noah -- preferably with someone who knows something about Chow Chows or has had experience with them. Chows are very devoted dogs to people they know and trust, but one has to generally go slowly with them. Chows are generally great dogs in apartments (quiet and "cat like"). They don't require tons of exercise and are almost always very clean and housebroken. Can you help us save Noah? If so, please CALL US (NOT email!) as soon as possible. (212) 427-8273. We only have a couple of days to find either a foster or adopter for Noah. If we are unable to, he will go back on the Euthanasia list. We have rescued and placed many Chows and without exception, all have turned out wonderful. We are hoping for the same for Noah -- but we cannot do it without help. Please help us save this little "bear."
Brownie is a very sweet, gentle, mature (about 6 to 8-years-old) Foxhound/Beagle/Shepherd mix who was found in someone's back yard and turned into the pound as a "stray." Whether Brownie was deliberately abandoned due to vacation traveling or simply became lost from his home, we don't know. We do know that due to the severe crowding in NYC shelters in the summer, Brownie quickly ended up on the Euthanasia list as soon as his "stray hold" was over. We pulled this handsome and gentle dog off the list and he is now in one of our primary foster homes where we can guarantee Brownie is GREAT WITH CHILDREN AND OTHER PETS, INCLUDING CATS! Brownie is totally healthy, neutered and HOUSEBROKEN. Indeed, he is a wonderful dog in every way! If interested in handsome Brownie, you MUST CALL US (NOT EMAIL!) at (212) 427-8273. The person or family who adopts Brownie will be very lucky indeed! He is a total sweetie!
Snoopy is an adorable Shih-Tzu who was rescued from the city shelter after being neglected in a former home. Suffering from bladder stones, Snoopy's former owners found it easier to abandon the little 7 to 9-year-old dog than take him to a vet for treatment. Snoopy has since been rescued, undergone surgery to remove the stones and is currently doing well in one of our foster homes. He is also now neutered and up to date on shots. Snoopy is a quietly affectionate little dog who appreciates having someone to himself. He likes to follow his person around and sleep near the one he loves. He would do best in a quiet, stable home without other dogs, small children or lots of comings and goings by visitors or roommates. Snoopy is a very good apartment dog. He is housebroken, non-destructive and is OK being left alone for a few hours. He is also OK around cats. Snoopy doesn't require tons of exercise and prefers lying by his person and watching TV. Currently, Snoopy is in a foster situation that is not well suited to his needs because of roommates and another dog in the home. He would be much happier and more secure in a home that he could really feel is his own. Could that home be yours? If interested in adorable Snoopy, please call us (NOT EMAIL!) at (212) 427-8283. Please have prior ownership experience with this type of dog and some record of having taken your dog to a vet. Snoopy has already suffered from prior neglect to his physical and medical needs and we would not want that to happen again. Snoopy deserves someone (or a mature couple) who can love and care for his needs. If that can be found for him, he will reward his new people with years of devoted, quiet affection. He is a little sweetie, but needs someone special to bring out his inate loving, happy nature.
Maike is an adorable, sweet, 10-month-old Corgi/Spitz mix puppy who arrived at the city shelter as a "stray." We don't know much of Maike's history, but it's obvious he came from a home. Did he escape from a yard? Did his people deliberately abandon him? Did they make the mistake of letting an exuberant puppy off leash in open space and then losing him? Any of those are possibilities. Regardless of his past however, the situation now is that Maike is sitting in the very crowded city shelter for more than a week and his "time" is running out. We have no open foster homes in which to put Maike until he can find an adoptive home, nor do we have any immediate adoption possibilities. Maike is about 22lbs, easy to walk, seemingly housebroken, very healthy, neutered, fully socialized and friendly. He appears to be interested in playing with other dogs. He would do best in a dog experienced home where he can get plenty of walks, exercise and loving attention. Can you help us save Maike from euthanasia by offering either temporary foster or adoption? If so, you need to call us as soon as possible (NOT EMAIL!) at (212) 427-8273. Time is of the essence in trying to save Maike. Our animal shelters are packed due to the influxes of animals during the current economic crisis and loss of many people's homes. We cannot rescue animals like Maike unless they can have a safe, immediate and secure place to go. Please call us immediately if you can offer either temporary foster or possible adoption. Maike's a beautiful and young little dog who doesn't deserve to die.
Gina, a 7 year old Shepherd mix, was found as a stray on 8/30/08. She's underweight (only 33 pounds), and her eyes are a bit cloudy, but she still sees quite well, thank you! She's stressed to be here at the Shelter, and clearly is trying to find a way out to go home. But where is home and why has no one come to claim her? She walks nicely on a leash and appears to be housetrained. She was fine around other dogs. Gina is friendly once you break the ice with her (she's stressed, remember). She needs a little bit more time and a good home to make her feel loved and secure. Right now, she enjoys tasty treats. Gina is currently at a New York City pound. She was already on the Euthanasia list (due to her poor condition) and has been pulled off once. However, we urgently need a caring foster (or adoptive) home for Gina IMMEDIATELY! If you can help us save Gina, please CALL us as soon as possible (NOT EMAIL!) at (212) 427-8273. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!
PJ is an exceptionally wonderful little Chow/Spitz mix dog (only 22 lbs!) who was abandoned at the city shelter when his people claimed to be "moving." PJ is gentle, affectionate, housebroken, GREAT with other dogs and sweet and accepting of cats. Although we have no history of PJ having lived with children, we suspect that by his trusting, sweet nature, he would be fine in a household with equally gentle children. PJ was estimated at the shelter to be an older dog, however, we suspect he is really around 4 to 6-years-old. (Former owners kept PJ outside in a yard and such neglect tends to "age" dogs in terms of their appearances.) Despite past neglect, PJ is a happy and enthusiastic dog -- even to point of occasionally acting quite puppyish! PJ would be a great dog for almost any situation. Apartment, working home, family, and/or other pets. If interested in this little cutie, please call us at (212) 427-8273 (NOT EMAIL!). Please have prior and committed dog ownership experience and preferably, a vet referance. PJ deserves a loving and forever, inside home.
Joey is a large, 3-year-old, (about 95lbs) Leonberger (breed that is combination of St. Bernard and Newfoundland) who is currently sitting in the Manhattan city shelter and desperately needs rescue! Not much is known about Joey except that he was found abandoned with a companion (Puggles) dog. The smaller dog was quickly adopted, but due to his large size and initial nervousness when arriving at the shelter, Leon did not make it into adoptions and is slated to be euthanized unless immediate placement or rescue can be found for him. A favorite with shelter volunteers, Joey is easygoing, calm, healthy, easy to walk and seems to love other dogs. Joey would do well in a country-type home where he could have space to move around and perhaps interact with other animals. Can you help us save beautiful Joey? If so, you need to call us IMMEDIATELY (NOT EMAIL!) at (212) 427-8273. Time is of the essence in trying to save this gorgeous and very rare breed of dog. Please help, if you can!
Suzanna is a three-year-old, Beagle/Shepherd mix (62 lbs) who lost her home when her owner became homeless and had to enter a shelter. The former owner indicated that Suzanna is housebroken and LOVES MEN, WOMEN AND CHILDREN. Suzanna is extremely sweet and affectionate. She loves to give kisses! Suzanna is easy to walk, sits on command (with treats) and seems like she would make a WONDERFUL FAMILY DOG.. Very trusting and generally cheerful temperament. Suzanna is in good condition and healthy. Unfortunately, due to severe crowding in our city shelters, Suzanna failed to get immediately adopted and ended up on the Euthanasia (kill) list almost as soon as she came in. WE HAVE TEMPORARILY PULLED HER FROM THE DEATH LIST, BUT NEED IMMEDIATE FOSTER OR ADOPTIVE PLACEMENT! Can you help save Susanna? If so, you need to CALL us (212) 427-8273 (NOT EMAIL!) as soon as possible. Time is of the essence in trying to save a loving dog who could bring many years of joy to a loving family.
Macgyver is a wonderful (2 to 4-year-old) Golden Retriever/Chow mix who arrived in the city shelter as a "stray." Macgyver is a handsome and healthy dog who has a very loving, sweet temperament and did well on the behavior test. He is a calm and easygoing dog, housebroken and he weighs only 45 lbs. Macgyver loves other dogs and seems good around cats. He loves people and seems like he could be a good family dog. We are currently seeking a responsible adoptive home for Macgyver as soon as possible as he is highly adoptable and there are many other dogs who desperately need rescue. Our emergency fosters are very limited. If interested in Macgyver, please CALL US (Not email!) at (212) 427-8273. Due to his good looks and health, as well as outstanding personality, we will not have Macgyver long!
Brownie is an adorable, very healthy, affectionate and vivacious Tibetan Spaniel mix who was dumped at the city shelter by people who didn't even give a reason for abandoning their pet of 7 years. Brownie was very scared and distressed in the pound and landed on the Euthanasia list. Fortunately, one of the shelter workers pulled him off and made a special appeal to us for rescue. Brownie is now doing wonderfully in one of our primary foster homes. Brownie is the ultimate "lap dog." He loves to give kisses. He is totally housebroken, loves to go for walks, loves car rides and most of all, loves lots of loving attention. Brownie is very friendly, playful and outgoing towards other dogs, as well as he is good with cats. He could go into a home with older children. We are seeking a dog experienced home for Brownie. His adopters MUST have a history of committed dog care and a checkable vet referance. Brownie is 16lbs, up to date on shots and a total LOVE. If interested in Brownie, you MUST CALL us (NOT EMAIL) at (212) 427-8273. We will not have this little cutie long.
Fluffy is a very sweet, 4-year-old, 16 lb West Highland Terrier mix who was given up to the city shelter due to his owner being in a wheelchair and unable to care for Fluffy. Fluffy is initially a little shy in new situations and with new people, however, once comfortable and secure, he is a very loving and gentle dog. Housebroken, neutered and healthy, Fluffy would do best in a home where attention can be paid to his grooming and exercise needs. Fluffy is easy to walk and handle and is unaggressive around other animals. We are seeking a dog experienced and committed home for Fluffy. His adopter(s) must have a checkable vet referance. If interested in Fluffy, you MUST CALL (NOT EMAIL) us. (212) 427-8273. Mature and stable home is a must!
Russle is a 2-year-old purebred Chow Chow who lost his home when his former owners moved to California. Russle is playful, housebroken, wonderful around children and other dogs, gentle and loyal. He would do best in a suburban or country type of home, as that is what he is used to. Very beautiful and healthy dog, Russle would make a great family pet. He will need exercise, play and affection and he will be your devoted friend for life. If interested in this handsome, loving lad, please CALL us (not email). (212) 427-8273. Please have committed dog experience and preferably, some knowledge or experience with Chow. Russle is waiting to go home with you!
Jay is an adorable and sweet, 7 year-old Pomeranian who arrived at the city shelter as a very frightened "stray." Because he was so scared and so stressed finding himself in a ward filled with large dogs, Jay did not pass for adoption. He needs someone to rescue him. Jay is about 12 lbs, healthy and friendly. He is easy to walk and social around other dogs. Although it is obvious Jay came from some kind of "home," it couldn't have been a good one. He appears to have been very neglected and has fly bites on his ears (usually indicating a dog who had been kept outside in a yard). We are seeking a loving and responsible foster or (preferably) adopter for Jay. His adopter must have previous committed dog ownership experience. Knowledge and experience with Pomeranians is preferred. If interested in this sweet little "fox" dog, please call us as soon as possible at (212) 427-8273. (Emails will not be replied to). Jay is a little sweetie and needs to get out of the shelter as soon as possible! Can you provide him with a loving, forever home? If so, please call!
Teddy is an adult (about 5-years-old) gentle and extremely loving and sweet Chow/Samoyed who lost his home when his former owners lost theirs and were forced to move. Unfortunately, they could not take Teddy with them. Teddy ended up in a shelter and was almost euthanized due to overcrowding when we took him out in rescue. Currently, Teddy is being boarded at our vet, but we would love to get him into a foster or adoptive home as soon as possible in order to save other dogs in dire need of rescue. According to Teddy's former owners, Teddy "loves men, women and children and other dogs. He is housebroken and very well behaved." Can you help us get Teddy out from behind cage bars and into a home where he is sure to bring joy to new people? Could those "new people" be you? If so, please CALL us (NOT EMAIL) at (212) 427-8273. This beautiful boy needs a loving and committed home;.
