RIGHT NOW
(Terry Bozzio/Dale Bozzio)

You've got that look in your eye
The kind that makes me wonder why
You could be wanting and needing
But then again these feelings
Could it be I'm dreaming

It's in the way that you stand when you're near to me
It's in the tone of your voice when you talk to me
Or could it be that I'm the one that's wanting you
And I really want you to want me too

Right now
I'm only guessing, so let me know
Right now
Don't keep me guessing

Imagination maybe, seems like it's running away with me
So make it clear for my sake this is no time for mistakes
Please don't hesitate

At times you seem to let on and then you pull away
Just give me some kind of chance I know you wanna play
Or could it be that I'm the one that's wanting you
And I really want you to want me too

Right now I'm only guessing
And right now, I don't know if you're for real
So let me know
Right now don't keep me guessing
I need to know
Right now--show me the way you feel

Right now, right now, right now

"Rhyme and Reason", the second Missing Persons album was not a success. It isn't even available in CD format yet, which is a crying shame. Poppier and moodier (more romantic, if you will) than their rock-charged first effort (which was a hit), it had all the makings of a smash. ( I still have the theory that the nude pictures from Dale that appeared in the Hustler magazine shortly before the release of this album were the real cause of the failure, her image overexposed - just like Madonna in 1992.)
Uptempos like the funky "Give" and "Clandestine People" (with the irresistible refrain "Clandestine People, you're so subreptitious") are wonderfully balanced with the sensual, quasi melancholic ambience of both "Surrender Your Heart" ( the closest thing to a New Wave ballad that there could possibly be ) and "Waiting For A Million Years", the latter a song that certainly inspired Madonna both vocally and thematically for her "Why Is It So Hard" track from 1992's "Erotica" ( which is, by the way, Madonna's masterpiece album, in my opinion ). Hear for yourself : doesn't "Right Now" sound just like a big hit single ?
