Holland married Leander Wilder; their son Leander Roebuck Wilder's second wife was Susan A. Field . Their daughter Jessie Marshaline Wilder (Homan) is my maternal grandmother. Just checking what Google has regarding my name. I think I come from a different branch of the Sloughs than you do. My grandfather was John P. Slough. His father was also J.P. Slough (the Civil War briggadier general and later Chief Justice of the NM T rr. Supreme Court. I did a seminar paper on his very interesting life and would like to exchange info with anyone who is also interested in him. According to my father, William McLean Slough, Mathias Slough was his ancestor in colonial America. Does an one have genealogy tracing that branch of the Sloughs? Thanks for providing this web site.

Great information. A correction : My mother's maiden name was Ina Mae Folley. Mother died Sept. 5, 1991 and is buried in Kirk Cemetery in Limestone Co. Tx near Mart, Tx. Mother remarried in 1938 to Clarence C. Perry.

I'm descended from confederate forebears and my avocation is the history of this period. Though I own a substantial library of published works on the subject, first hand letters from the period are rare, indeed. I thank you for sharing them. Unlike histo ies, which focus on the armies, letters add a personal touch that brings home the reality of the private soldier's life in a way that books can never do. I thank you again.

I talked today with a friend I have known for 55 years whose name is Cyril Slough - he lives in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada and would like some information on his ancesters - His parents were Percival and Rose Anne Slough (her maiden name McCormack) came to Canada from England after their first son, Cormac was born. He remembers his mother came from County Monahan in Ireland and his father perhaps from a borough Slough in England, a little hamlet there. Hi Ken & Joan! It's been a long time since we were in Oneonta. I am still in the process of disproving the William C. Cornelius. I belive William's father was Moses Cornelius in Pittsylvania Co., VA. And to confuse the matter even more... I believe his (Wm. in AL) wife was not a Cargill, or even named Lettice. There is nothing to prove the above either way. Have you found documentation?

I am searching for the Bowen-Elsworth (Alyesworth) connection in RI and NY before the American Revolution. This Alyesworth family were loyal to the British and came to Canada as United Empire Loyalists with the Barrett Dyer family in 1784 from New York St te.
