| This is how you remind me of
what i really am... -Nickleback |

One of my favorite stories from my childhood is that of my mother asking me what i wanted to be when i grew up. I would always answer "happy," and she would smile. Unfortunately the innocence of a child yields to the self-imposed responsibilities of adulthood. How sad. Childhood is the only time in our lives when the answer truly comes from the heart. As we grow older this answer is skewed by the lure of money, power, and other fleeting material goods. That child like voice becomes buried so deep in the back of our cluttered heads that on the rare occasions we do hear it, it is easier to ignore.
But sometimes we listen. Several years ago i heard that innocent boy's voice again and i obeyed. I chose to be happy. While everyday is still a battle between letting go and getting so caught up with being happy that i wonder if i really am, there are times i am rewarded for trusting this "pure" voice. It is then that i am rewarded and the voices of doubt are silenced if for only brief time. This past Monday was one of these fortunate occasions.
We all set out simply to have a good
time, which we did. Along the way we were met by incredible people like
Bruce Rochester, the friendly trucker, and the people at and on the Caroline's
show to name a few. It's a simple fact that good attracts good and never
was that more evident than this night. by simply enjoying ourselves we supported
our friends, comedy and most importantly the city of New York. Our reward was not money or power or material goods... it
was simply laughter. While I cannot thank you enough for the smiling faces and
kind words i received on and since that night, i can show the smiling faces from
that night which will remain in my heart always. Thank
you for making my mother smile. This is how you remind me...
