It is a different time and while many might say it is a different war-it is still-the same old war of hatred and intolerance-on ALL sides. Palestinians who seek to push Israel into the sea. Israelites who want to exterminate the thought of a Palestinian state from the conciousness of the world. Semites, cousins and biblical brothers, with an insatiable desire and thirst to kill themselves and each other untill the conflict reaches its inevitable end when there will be no one left to kill and no religious principles worth living for.
Each bulldozed home gives birth to more bitter tears and to tomorrow's new family of martyrs and to the illusion that something is being done to make life more normal and secure when security is the last thing that is being brought about. It seems only too painfuly obvious that the terror of nuclear warheads, polarization and mutual impoverisnment is no protection against the terror of suicide bombers. Planes and tanks and the best trained soldier in the world is no defense against the sight of children throwing stones and citizens who feel they have less to live for than they have to die for-the horror of the Warsaw ghetto and the story of David should prove that. And a wall can give as much rise to a vow for revenge as a false feeling of safety.
I can tell you this with certainty-politicians and military leaders are the world's last and weakest line of defense against war-for none of them truly wants peace. They are all too secure to care, in their ivory towers, surrounded by bodyguards and protected by a never ending supply of too many misled young soldiers, children and victims of shrapnel, bombs and death.
The true war--the ONLY war worth wageing is to realize the true Israel, as is the true Palestine, the true America are not a geographical place-but a state of mind-as is freedom. And do not fool yourself-if you do not see the military madness and denegration of the enemy that has engulfed "normal" people since time immorial-then had you been born on the other side of this conflict I guarantee you-you would have had no difficulty hateing the side you are on now just as surely as you hate the other side now.
