| So, what are Yorkshire people like? Well, of course, it's impossible to generalise - to say they are all the same in personality/character would be untrue. I would say Yorkshire folk are quite normal - the majority are friendly, courteous, helpful and extremely pleasant on a good day, but, like everyone else we have our moments and can be downright rude and abrupt the next. One thing I can say about Yorkshire folk is that they don't usually 'sit on the fence' - if you upset them, they will probably let you know in one way or another. |

| Where is Yorkshire? On a map of the United Kingdom (England/Ireland/Scotland/Wales), Yorkshire lies approximately half way down the largest of the two islands, and roughly covers two thirds of the width of England (centre & right towards the North Sea). The Ridings/Counties of Yorkshire (briefly): Prior to 1974, Yorkshire was divided into 3 Ridings (North, East and West) after which time the Ridings were abolished and replaced by 4 counties: North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire and Humberside. In 1996, Humberside was renamed East Yorkshire. A downloadable map of Yorkshire, as a whole, is available from the Genuki Website - this shows the towns and villages included in the county and is a valuable tool for anyone not familiar with Yorkshire. |
