The Bus Rapid Transit Policy Center is the latest program operated by the Breakthrough Technologies Institute, an independent, Washington DC think-tank dedicated to the development and deployment of clean and efficient energy and transportation technologies. The Center is funded by a generous grant from the W. Alton Jones Foundation. BRT is an environmentally friendly, cost-effective option that all communities should consider when making transportation investment decisions. Our mission is to educate policymakers and the public about the benefits of BRT, helping to ensure informed decision-making on important transportation issues. Our mission also is to provide thoughtful, independent suggestions for policies that will help place BRT on a level playing field with other transportation investments, such as roads and rail, so that communities can make the best decisions based upon their own needs and goals. |
