Gary Rogers took office as Sheriff of Wilkes County in 2001. He served as a Deputy Sheriff for the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office for over twenty years under Sheriff Cecil A. Moore.

In 1996, construction of a new facility was started. In August, 1998, the new facility was dedicated as the Cecil A. Moore Law Enforcement Center. The Law Enforcement Center houses the Wilkes County Sheriff's Department and Detention Center. |
