เพลงนี้เป็นเพลงเอกในภาพยนตร์เรื่อง Fiddler on the Roof (ชื่อภาษาไทยคือ เรื่องบุษบาหาคู่) ตัวเอกของเรื่องคือ Tevye ซึ่งเป็นหัวหน้าครอบครัวยากจนแถบชนบทของรัสเซียที่ทุกข์ยากและทำงานหนักชั่วชีวิต ในเพลงนี้ Tevye กล่าวถึงความฝันว่าถ้าหากเขาเป็นคนร่ำรวย ชีวิตของเขาก็คงจะดำเนินไปในอีกรูปแบบหนึ่งแตกต่างจากที่เป็นอยู่ ในย่อหน้าแรกจะเป็นการพูดคุยกับพระเจ้าว่า

ข้าแต่พระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระองค์ทรงสร้างคนจนมากมายเหลือเกิน
แน่ละ ข้าฯ ตระหนักอยู่แล้วว่าเป็นคนจนก็ไม่เสียหายอะไร แต่ก็ไม่น่าภูมิใจอะไรเหมือนกันแหละ!
แล้วมันจะลำบากมากนักหรือไง ถ้าข้าฯจะมีโชคลาภบ้างสักเล็กๆน้อยๆย่อหน้าต่อๆมาเป็นจินตนาการ แปลกๆ สนุกสนานและน่ารักๆว่าถ้าเขารวยเขาจะ.................
