เพลงนี้เป็นเพลงเอกจากภาพยนตร์การ์ตูนเรื่อง Mulan ของ Walt  Disney  
ซึ่งมีเค้าโครงเรื่องจากตำนานนิทานของจีนที่เล่าสืบต่อกันมาประมาณ
เกือบสองพันปี   Mulan เป็นหญิงสาวที่ปลอมเป็นชายไปเข้าร่วมกองทัพ
ออกสู้รบในสงครามจนกระทั่งได้ชัยชนะ  ซึ่งโดยจารีตประเพณีและกฎเกณฑ์
ในสังคมจีน  หน้าที่ของลูกผู้หญิงมีเพียงเคารพเชื่อฟัง แต่งงานตามที่พ่อแม่
จัดการให้ และให้กำเนิดลูกชายที่จะเป็นผู้สืบสกุลต่อไป  ผู้หญิงไม่มีสิทธิที่จะ
แสดงความคิดหรือออกความเห็นใดๆ   เรื่องของ  Mulan จึงสะท้อนให้เห็นว่า 
ความคิดเกี่ยวกับสิทธิสตรี และความเท่าเทียม  ได้มีกันมานานแล้ว

คำร้องที่นำเสนอนี้ เป็น Version  ที่ขับร้องโดย Christina Aguilera 
นักร้องวัยรุ่นอเมริกัน ซึ่งเริ่มร้องเพลงตั้งแต่มีอายุเพียง 8 ขวบเท่านั้น 
ตามท้องเรื่องในภาพยนตร์ เพลงนี้เป็นฉากที่  Mulan มองเงาสะท้อน
ของตนเองในน้ำและกระจกเงาแล้วคิดว่า  เงาสะท้อนที่ปรากฎไม่ใช่
ตัวตนที่แท้จริงของเธอ  เธอต้องการมีอิสระทางทางความคิดและ
เป็นตัวของตัวเอง  ไม่ใช่เป็นไปตามที่สังคมกำหนดให้เป็น
