THE CONTINUING ADVENTURES OF NIKKI & PETE
A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER...
PETE TRAVELLED TO CHATHAM ON 18th OCTOBER FOR A WEEKEND FILMING GUY RITCHIE'S NEW MOVIE 'SHERLOCK HOLMES', starring ROBERT DOWNIE Jr. AND JUDE LAW.
All went well, with Pete and his mates Jay Wheddon and Ben Mealing sharing jokes with Robert Downey Jr., but the drama really started when fellow S/A Philip Kerry offered to share a B&B with Pete, as it would have been too much of a strain for Pete to travel back to Stevenage Saturday night, only to travel back to Chatham for Sunday morning. That evening, Philip introduced Pete to Graeme and Carol, the landlord and landlady, and then set off to find a cashpoint. Philip decided to go to the pub, whilst Pete drew some money out. However, on his way to the pub, Pete found Philip collapsed on the ground, with an ambulance crew attempting to resussitate him!
Now Philip had the keys, not only to the B&B, but also to the secure Naval complex, in which was housed the B&B, and naturally, the ambulance crew were not authorised to had the keys to Pete! With the help of a local taxi driver, and the Security guy at the complex, Pete managed to find his way back to the B&B, and finally got to bed at 1.30 am.
YOU WILL BE PLEASED TO HEAR THAT PHILIP HAS SINCE MADE A FULL RECOVERY.
After speaking to Philip's wife on the phone, and making arrangements Sunday morning for Philip's belongings to be taken back to his home, filming continued.
Well now, as if Pete hadn't had enough for one weekend, on his way back home Sunday evening, A young lady (Naomi) boarded the train from Kings Cross, suffering a
PANIC ATTACK! Pete, being a trained nurse, took charge of the situation, borrowing a nebuliser and bottle of water from fellow passengers, and he managed to calm Naomi down... IT WAS CERTAINLY A WEEKEND TO REMEMBER!
THE BEST NIGHT OF OUR LIVES!
Dance For Fun at The Gordon Craig Theatre, Stevenage.
* * * * * * *
We had been promising ourselves
and our old friend DOREEN WALKER that we would get to see the 'Dance For Fun' dancers on stage for some time, so eventually, we made it to The Gordon Craig Theatre on 4th November to watch this uplifting stage show...
DANCE FOR FUN is a dancing school run by Doreen, her daughter Lyndsay, and several volunteers in our own home town of Stevenage, but this is no ordinary dancing school! These dancers have put on shows at DISNEYLAND PARIS, HER MAJESTY'S THEATRE IN LONDON, AND THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL, so we knew we were in for a very special treat...
The show started with the
Queen classic, Don't Stop me Now, and believe us, - the show didn't stop until the intermission, then carried on a full strength until the finale!
We were then treated to an amazing array of dancing talent and music that ranged from almost forgotten classics like
Mr. Bojangles, Paper Doll, Kitty Cat and She wore Red Feathers, through Disney Classics like Zippety Do Da and Party at Mickey's House, to Rock Classics such as Jailhouse Rock to more modern numbers like Let Me Entertain You, Beauty School Drop-out and Love Shack.
We were particularly impressed with their unique version of
The Can-Can, as Doreen has promised to perform this at our wedding in April!
IT WAS A REAL FEELGOOD SHOW, - SOMETHING WE COULD ALL DO WITH IN THESE TROUBLED TIMES, FULL OF FUN, COLOUR AND MAGIC, AND THE WHOLE THING WAS STRUNG TOGETHER WITH THE HUMOUR AND WIT OF
STEVE BIERN (BIG STEVE) WHO ACTED AS COMPERE FOR THE EVENING.
WELL DONE TO DOREEN, LINDSAY THE DANCERS THEMSELVES, AND ALL THE PEOPLE WHO PUT IN SO MUCH WORK TO MAKE THIS AN OUTSTANDING NIGHT OF SHEER DELIGHT...
