DECEMBER 16 Hey all! Well, I'm still trying to update. It's awful hard when you live 1000 miles away from the tour - and then some. I'm still hearing great things that it's selling out and all that good stuff. I'm curious to see who will take over for Derrick and Carol (and others?) when they leave for Broadway. I'll keep you posted. NOVEMBER 8 Added a new link today. Thanks Lauren! OCTOBER 2 Last day for Denver to see "Wicked". The tour now moves to Dallas, TX where they start performing on Thursday. AUGUST 9 As many of you know, Stephanie Block is taking 6 weeks off from the tour to get some real recovery time down. Best wishes to her. She will return in time for the Denver engagement. In the meantime, Eden Espinosa (who was Idina Menzel's standby on Broadway) will cover the role in San Francisco thru September 11. The city is embracing the show more than ever. After all, this was where "Wicked" was born just over 2 years ago. Curious how Eden looks as Elphaba? Check the act two pictures for 2 new additions. Also, I want to get a history section up soon and this requires some help from you guys. I need some information on understudies first shows on - the only one I recall is Jenna Leigh Green as Elphaba in Toronto on April 9, 2005 at the 2PM show. If you know of others, mail me and under subject, put WICKED HISTORY. Thanks as always! MAY 9 Oh dear lord. It's been ages since I've updated. Please understand that I'm in my senior year and updates are very hard to come by when essays and independent studies are tossed at you at an almost daily level - at least that's what it feels like. I know a lot of you are in the same boat and need this site as an escape or outlet so I'll do my best. I think I counted seven weeks left of school. Damn you university / college people. Just kidding. I ended up seeing the tour again on April 23, right before it left for Chicago. Full cast this time. I don't have time to tell all the details - there's a funny story to tell about me getting to the theatre - but I was so blown away (again) by the cast, and Stephanie Block was glorious. You can tell she's been waiting a long time for this role. MARCH 31 Tonight is opening night in Toronto! Stephanie returned on March 22, 3 days earlier than expected. Congrats and thank you to Kristy Cates for filling in during such a hectic town. The night I went, the cast couldn't stop going on how grateful and proud they were of her. I'll try to get my pictures of her and I at the stage door up by the end of the week. School is crazy right now. Also, the Toronto run is officially sold out! Thank god I go my tickets early. Can't wait for April 23rd! MARCH 16 Saw WICKED last night and it was fantastic. Kudos to Kristy Cates who really came through. And the rest of the cast is great too. Those who doubt this cast have another thing coming. This morning, David Stone confirmed that Stephanie Block will return on March 25 and the producers have postponed the opening till March 31 so that Stephanie can be part of it. I'll post my review later on when I get the time. Later guys! MARCH 9 Last night's preview was cancelled due to a minor injury with Stephanie J. Block during the dress rehearsal on March 7. They ran through the entire show flawlessly. Afterward, they ran the flying sequence to verify some coordination, and that is where the injury occured. Block is well now and resting. The preview has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 13 at 7:30PM. Visit Mirvish's site to verify on refunds, exchanges, etc. In the meantime, Kristy Cates of the Broadway production is being flown in to fill in for the role of Elphaba for a few days. Best of luck to the entire cast and let's hope Ms. Block gets well for next week - when I see it :P. Also, there is light nonsense going on about the show being 'cursed'. It's not so much as 'cursed' as it a technically demanding show. The crew are now more aware than ever about the actor's safety and they are now in full control of the situation. In another week, I'll be starting the history section to the tour and keep track with events. To those who don't know, the 'official' opening night is scheduled for March 20. MARCH 7 The tour starts tomorrow. So excited! Mirvish confirmed some information about the show's run: All shows have very limited availablity. Many shows are sold out or have single seats only. Choose weekday evenings - Tue, Wed, Thur at 8:00pm for best availability. Added Matinee - Thurs March 10 2pm - Seats still available. Dare I say, if the run goes well and Toronto responds as well as San Francisco and New York, there may very well be a Toronto production. MARCH 2 Wow. It's been ages. Ah well. There's not even a week before performances start for WICKED. I am so excited. I'm now seeing it twice: March 15, Row DD and April 23 evening, Balcony Row J. The cast is Toronto now rehearsing on stage at the Canon Theatre where they are no doubt sorting out the technical demands for the show. The buzz is high! I can't wait! JANUARY 15 Hello everyone! This is the mimi-launch of my site. While it is an extension of Kevin's WICKED Site, it is an entirely different site that serves its purpose for the National Tour of WICKED. In the next few weeks I would like to compile a few more pages concerning cast members, hopefully some pictures, etc. I am also working on a production history section, keeping an attentive watch on events during the tour and dates regarding runs and ticket sales. This is impossible without help, so I ask people who plan on seeing WICKED during its national tour to be insiders with me. Whether you are seeing the show in Toronto, Chicago, etc., your help will be greatly appreciated and I will more than happily credit you for it. To contact me, please e-mail and I'll get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks guys! Return to Kevin's WICKED Site |
