Under Construction - Sortof

This area is for any models we may make freely available and for any utilities we come up with - pictures and animations will all be within the Galleries section.

As time went on and more people joined, it became apparent that we'd use (and need to use) more than just the free POV-Ray renderer. Since we're now using various different modellers and renderers, the models will be split into file format for convenience's sake.

Sadly it also became apparent that people wanted models, but didn't want to put any effort in themselves. Due in part to this, but mostly to the manner a certain business (not The BBC) treated a Who fan's artwork (using it without permission and becoming downright threatening when this was pointed out) few, if any, models will be made readily available in the near future. Except, of course, between Who3D modellers.

Further to the above, some of Noel's work has now been "borrowed" by a group of fans claiming to do colour reproductions of lost stories, without asking permission or giving any credit to Noel. They seem to be claiming the artwork as their own. I'm not impressed, and neither is Noel - and they have failed to respond in any way to our attempts to contact them and clarify their intent. We're still going to be making some models available (notably some Dalek Chess models for POV-Ray users, by Cory) but I'm now even less tempted to put up anything else significant here. Join in and make a model for the team and you'll get access to more models than we'll show here.

If you've seen a model used in the gallery and despite the fact you want to use it, it's not here - then contact the artist or myself (Cliff Bowman) and we'll see what can be done. But please bear in mind that a great deal of effort goes in to making many of these models, so it's not unusual for the modeller to feel a little attached to their work.

POV-Ray

Seal of Rassilon The first of the re-vamped models to make it's way onto the web site, this weighs in at a meagre 137KB zipped. That makes it smaller than the rotating preview in the gallery!

Cory's Dalek Shuttle Along with two animate-able scene files (including the fly-by which needs the Galaxy Include file).

Software

OBJuvPOV The FULL download of OBJuvPOV V 0.0.14 (so.. an early beta test then)... Cliff Bowman's Poser 4 .OBJ to POV-Ray conversion utility (1.8MB). Sorry about the download size - it's all the Microsoft runtime stuff that causes it... note that I haven't written my own setup routine yet but used the default one - so there's no menu item created for the documentation. There is, however, a simple OBJuvPOV.htm file provided which might prove useful (look in the folder where you installed OBJuvPOV to). This version includes the VB5 runtime which may be needed if you're not using Windows 98. Alternatively, you can have a peek at the documentation (such as it is) online.
OUP0014.zip Just the OBJuvPOV executable - so ideal as an update to existing users or for people who already have the necessary VB5 runtimes (like Win98SE users). Unzip to the folder OBJuvPOV is installed in or a folder of your choice if you don't have a copy of OBJuvPOV installed. 1
