October 12, 2002: Today Westhill went to New York City to compete in the 30th Annual Manhattan College Invitational.  Even with nonstop rain and 10 inches of mud, there were some excellent performances by many runners in 3 different races.  In the Varsity D race, Rick DeCarr led the team in, finising 40th overall, following closely by Kevin Blaich (43).  Later in the race, Andrew Lewis, Matt Zych, and Mark Leonard all finished within a few seconds of each other.  Also running varsity were Mike Clark and Jeremy Bongio.  In the Junior Varsity race, Westhill entered Chris Pallotta, who finished 102, and Taylor Mulherin.  Both runners ran well in a very competitive field.  In the Freshman race, Tim Hartnett and Dave Riccardi again proved how talented they are: Tim finished 4th and Dave finished 7th overall in a very competitive 1.5 mile-race.  To finish top-10 in an invitational this size is truly amazing - congratulations to both of them.  There were other runners in the Freshmen race who ran great as well: Dan Kunzinger finished 3rd for the team, followed by Colin Haigney, Pat Lane, Nate Fedrizzi, and Zach Rudy.  To my surprise, there were extremly few results to come out of the country's largest invitational; if more arrive, I will post them.  Also congratulations go to the Westhill Girl's XC team.  They competed in the Eastern State Championship (a race of the top elite girls' teams in this part of the country) where they finished 6th.  Congrats to all runners who participated in this invitational.
