| October 5, 2002: Today Westhill competed in the Baldwinsville Invitational. The varsity team brought home a fourth place finish in the Varsity B Race, while the JV team took 8th place in the multi-class JV race. The varsity team ran very well, with Kevin Blaich finishing first for Westhill (14) followed by Rick DeCarr (21). The reason Westhill placed as well as they did was the tight finish of the the entire top 5: only 53 seconds separated Blaich from Andrew Lewis, our 5th man. In the JV race, there were some incredible performances by many runners, including Dave Riccardi, who finished 10th overall in the JV race. His time, 17:18, was so good, he would have finished in the top half of the varsity race had he ran it. The other scoring runners on the JV team were Mike Clark, Steve Leonard, Taylor Mulherin, and Chris Pallotta. Another exceptional race was run by Colin Haigney, who moved up his spot on the team considerably. Congratulations to all who ran today! |
