| ABOUT OUR CHAPTER The Western Reserve chapter has been in existence for 10 years and is one of the newer chapters in the AOMCI. Last year we had 10 meets that ranged from a winter morning breakfast get together to a three day wet meet in July. The Western Reserve Chapter is currently comprised of 47 members mainly resideing in Eastern Ohio and Western PA. A typical meeting will normally include the following activities: A swap area where you can find a wide variety of motors and if you're lucky that special part you need. Members displaying some of their lastest finds or showing off their newest motor restoration project, operating boats and motors, and most important, just talking/learning about outboards with a great group of people. At some meets, we have on the water contests, with some kind of prize awarded. A fully restored Mercury KF-5 was the prize, at one of the meets. Last, but not least, we normally have coffee and donut and a noon lunch. Our officers are: Mike Seachrist-President 5419 Mark Twain Cir NW No. Canton, Ohio 44720 mseachrist@ameritech.net John Hagerman-Secretary/Treasurer 331 Mull Avenue Akron, Ohio 44313 chagerman@neo.rr.com ABOUT OUR MEMBERS The backbone of any organization is the people and I think we have a great group with a wide range of experience and talents. Whatever your outboard motor interests are, someone in the chapter most likely shares the same interest. A snap shot of our chapter members is listed below: We have several people that have worked in the marine field for 30+ years and many newbie's who just enjoy bringing an old outboard back to life. Several members enjoy restoring motors and boats and have won awards at some of the major AOMCI meets. Most members have a brand loyalty, so we constantly have friendly debates on which motor is best. At the wet meets, you can expect to see just about any type of boat or motor on the water, and boat rides are always available. Not all members bring boats, but every year, more boats show up at the meets. The age of our members range from 30 to 70+ years old and the size of the collection range from a few motors to..........several more. Our chapter is open to any AOMCI member and our dues are $5.00 a year. Dues should be sent to the treasurer at the following address: John Hagerman 331 Mull Avenue Akron, Ohio 44313 Thank-you, Mike Seachrist-President |
