Club Information

The Western Districts Fencing Club (WDFC) is centrally located in the heart of Adelaide. The club is associated and located with the South Australian German club and training is undertaken in the German club gymnasium located at Flinders Street Adelaide. The club rooms are air conditioned with change rooms, showers and bar facilities. The Salle is fully equipped with all equipment (protective clothing and weapons) provided and electronic scoring equipment. Coaching is available for individuals for all three weapons - foil, epee and sabre.

Training:  Thursdays 7:00pm - 9:30pm
                 Saturdays 9:00am - 12:00pm
                                 (tournaments or training)


Costs:

  • Introduction course - First five sessions $60 which includes lessons and all equipment.
    Thereafter, $5 per session.

  • $5 per session and,
    Annual subscription to the German Club - $38 per annum for adults, $22 studentss per annum ( pro rata rates applicable), no charge youth U/16.

If you're interested in taking fencing up to keep fitness levels high or if you're keen to compete in state and national competitions then look no further than the Western Districts Fencing club. If you're interested in joining contact Brian Grossmann on 8356 6062 or Fred Piep on 8337 5036. Alternatively, just come along one Thursday night to the Gym located at the top floor of the German club in Flinders St Adelaide city to have a look and see what the sport is about. The first five weeks (at a cost of $60) consists of structured lessons which allow beginners to learn the art of fencing. After five weeks of training most people are on their way to becoming good fencers -although it takes a lifetime to perfect!  All sexes and ages welcome.
