This branch of the DOCKERTY family began in Ireland and then found work in the coal mines of Wigan in Lancashire and Usworth in County Durham. Some of them died in the coal mines. All of the coal mines are now closed.
The other half of the family were employed in the Ironworks of Consett,
Tow Law, Tudhoe, Walker, Washington, Wolsingham and West Hartlepool.
All of the Iron Works are now closed.
