FindTextInFiles 1.1
FindTextInFiles 1.1

I made this program because starting with Windows XP, the wonderful folks at Microsoft decided to not search in all files for the text you specify just to save time.  They assumed you only wanted to search in certain files like Word & Excel files.  I did find a registry fix for this, but it only works on some extensions and it doesn't work on mapped networked drives.   All they had to do was give you an option to search in all files.

You can run the 'FindTextInFilesAdd.reg' file in the c:\program files\findtextinfiles directory to be able to right-click on a folder and launch FindTextInFiles.  That way it automatically fills in the folder you want to search.
You may remove it by deleting running the 'FindTextInFilesDelete.reg' file in the c:\program files\findtextinfiles directory.

With this 1.1 version, you can now right click on a file and choose to open, open in notepad, or open in the program which will show you where your text string was found.  You can also search for files that do NOT contain the text string specified.  Plus you can print your results.  I now include the number of times the string occurs in the file.

You may now replace a text string with another text string.  This only works if you select the "Match Case" checkbox.  Note: this has only been tested on text (ascii) files.  I do not accept responsibility for anything that happens to your files/computer on which this program is run.
