Of course as was in earth history of WWII, the japanese navy made modifcatiosn to ships. One class having several varients. This is no secret that that eve now the IJN still keeps this practise up as well as adapting new custom designs built for specific needs inservice.
In 2003, GZG released the line of Full Thrust miniatures for the IJN, (Imperial Japanese Navy) No SSDs were given, so many people made their own statistics. I gave it thought and came up with the idea of having them use no special features on their warships, using standard technologies. But I had also noticed that each affiliation in the FT universe has something the others don't. Then having saw the IJN fighters, I decided to use their special equipment as fighters. These are the rules I had designed for IJN fighters. Please feel free ro use them adjust them and if you find flaws or ways in improve. I would greatly appreciate it.
The IJN fighters have a unique "First-Strike" ability. if you will had seen a cartoon called, "Robotech"you will rebember their "Veriteh" fighters had a large number of extremely short range missiles. I had decided to use this in FT with IJN fighters. This ability works when an enemy fighter group or SM is with in 6". The IJN player has the option to for a strike attack as the enemy fighters or SMs are coming in. They roll their attack as nomral, 1d6 for each fighter in the squadron. Hits are scored as normal and casualties are removed. Once they are "First Strike" casualties have been removed, fighter fur-balls commence as normal. This "First Strike" ability only works once until the fighter squadron returs to its base for reloading. Once the ability it used, the stadard fighter rules apply. But there is one more advantage for IJN fighters. The ability to transform and literally "LAND" on an enemy ship. Literally lansing o the hull and ifilicting direct damage. Fighter approach normall and enemy makes PDF defese as normal. removing causalties. The remaining fighters may choose NOT to attach in this round, by doing this, they trasform to a battleloid mode and land on the enemy hull. Once they land, each fighter can inflict direct damage. the enemy ship may defend by using PDF units only. Any ship equiped with ADFC may NOT defed an ally ship. Close proximity makes lock on impossible. Once the PDF defernse is made, any remaning IJN fighters in Battleloid mode automattically inflict 2 damage points to the enemy ship. Each attack costs a underance point. Once a battleloid decides to break off, if the target or any other ship in the area with ADFC that has a chance to fire may do so as normal. The breakig off battloids get no attack role as they are trasforming back to fighter mode.
MASS cost is normal as per squadron, 9MASS NPV cost is higher for their multi ability roles, 48 points
