| Darlene Amberik, age 49 | MURDERED allegedly by her husband's mistress, Wanda Kanner, age 49, in 2001. Kanner, who was unlicensed, was nursing Darlene Amberik who had multiple sclerosis. Kanner is alleged to have fed her a piece of bagel and having allowed her to choke to death on it. This month (May 2003), Kanner was been charged murder and involuntary manslaughter. |

| Kurt Billie, age 5 and Keith Billie, age 3 | MURDERED (by drowning) by their father, Kirk Douglas Billie. On April 19, 2001, (then age 32), a Miccosukee Indian, was sentenced to two life terms (concurrent). He was CONVICTED of SECOND DEGREE MURDER. | Acacia Patience Bishop, 19 months | MURDERED (drowned) allegedly by her mentally-ill grandmother, Kelley Jean Lodmell, age 38, on either May 25th or May 26th, 2003. | Sherrill Ann Bishop, age 38; their son Andrew, age 9; and their twin daughters Kelley and Megan, age 6 | MURDERED on or around April 3, 2001, by husband and father, John Bishop, age 41, who then killed himself. | Crystal Brame, age 35 | MURDERED (shot to death) in front of their two young children by her husband (and their father), Tacoma Police Chief David Brame, age 44, on April 6, 2003. Brame then committed suicide. There were prior allegations of domestic abuse. (Note: Crystal actually died a week later of the wounds she suffered on the April 6th attack). | Tommy Cressman, age 39 | MURDERED allegedly by his girlfriend, Jane Andrews, then age 34. Andrews was tried for his murder in April 2001. Trial results unknown. Note: Jane Andrews was the former "dresser" for the Duchess of York. (UK) |
| Al-Lex Daniels, 10 months old | MURDERED (beaten to death) allegedly by his mother's boyfriend, Lee Edwards, age 23. This week (May 17, 2003), he was charged with capital felony which can bring him the death penalty as well as "murder, injury to a child and first-degree assault". He is currently in custody in lieu of $2.5 million bail. Last month, Al-Lex's sister was removed from the home she shared with her brother, her mother and her mother's boyfriend and placed in the custody of her biological father and his mother. Unfortunately, Al-Lex wasn't removed as well or he would still be alive today. This is not Edward's first run in with the law. He has other charges pending and he has a restraining order against him by another woman. (Connecticut, USA) |

| Vicky Fletcher, age 21 | MURDERED (shot by an AK47 assault rifle) by her ex-boyfriend, Thomas Shanks, age now 51, in May 1998. Shanks was CONVICTED of murder and sentenced to life in prison. | Caleb Folbigg, 19 days; Patrick Folbigg, 8 months; Sarah Folbigg, 11 months; and Laura Folbigg, 19 months | FOUR BABIES MURDERED (smothered) by their mother, Kathleen Folbigg, now age 35, because they interfered with her lifestyle. Caleb was murdered in 1989, Patrick in 1991, Sarah in 1993, and Laura in 1999. On May 21, 2003, Folbigg was CONVICTED of three counts of murder and one count of manslaughter. | Jill Hand | MURDERED by her husband, Gerald Hand (also known as Bobby), now age 54, on January 15, 2002. Also killed was Walter Welch (known as Lonnie). Hand was CONVICTED on all counts on May 30, 2003, and faces the death penalty. Sentencing hearings will start on June 4, 2003. | Sherry Heron, age 41, and her mother, Anna Adams, age 68 | MURDERED (shot) on May 20, 2003, by Sherry's husband, Bryan Heron, age 52, while she was in the hospital with her mother visiting her. | Sandra Hilderbrand, age 36; her daughter, Caitlin Williams, age 8; and their son, Michael Jr., age 5 | MURDERED by their husband and father, Michael Hilderbrand Sr. on March 7, 2001. On March 7, 2001, Hilderbrand Sr., then age 43, MURDERED his wife, his son, and his step-daughter. The next day, he took his own life. Mitigating circumstances: apparently he suffered from bi-polar disorder which may have been a factor in the killings. (South Carolina, USA) |
| Salem Corey Hogan, two months | MURDERED by his father, Christopher Alan Hogan, now age 24, on October 12, 2000. Hogan was originally CONVICTED of second-degree felony child abuse and sentenced up to 15 years in prison. The baby died on June 24, 2002, less than two years later as a direct result of being shaken. The medical examiner's office having declared the baby's death to be a homicide, prosecutors now have charged Hogan with "second-degree felony child-abuse homicide". Hogan is appealing claiming "double jeopardy". (Salt Lake City, Utah, USA) |
| Christopher Ibarra, age 20 months | MURDERED allegedly by his father, Moises Ibarra. On December 17th, 2001, Ibarra allegedly shook his baby into a coma and vegetative state. While the mother sought to have the baby's life support system, disconnected, the father fought against it. Finally, in April 2003, the California Supreme Court gave permission for the baby's life support to be discontinued, and the baby died on May 11, 2003, shortly after the life support was discontinued. The father is currently in jail in lieu of US$250,000 bail on felony child abuse charges and murder charges are expected to be filed shortly. Trial date has been set for June 9, 2003. | Billie-Jo Jenkins, age 13 | MURDERED by her foster father, Sion Jenkins. On April 19, 2001, then 42 year old Jenkins filed another appeal over his conviction in the MURDER of his foster daughter in 1997. Jenkins was CONVICTED and sentenced to life in 1998...he then filed an appeal in 1999 which he lost. Resuults of his latest appeal are unknown. (UK) |
| Maylon Johnson | On March 22, 2001, court decided that 43 year old Susan Marie Watson should be tried in juvenile court...a court date of June 5th was set. Watson confessed in 1998 to SHOOTING her mother to death in 1971 when she was 14 years old. Results of the trial are unknown. (New Jersey, USA) |
| Alan Karo | This case is difficult. Alan Karo's daughter, Jasmine Karo (age 18), killed him after he physically abused her. There was a history of domestic abuse from the father towards his daugher, wife and other 12 year old daughter. Technically, Alan Karo is the victim but I believe the real victim in this case to be Jasmine Karo. Personally, I think that Alan Karo got what he deserved. Jasmine is currently out on US$75,000 bail and is expected to graduate from high school in June 2003. Since the justice system was unable to protect her from her father when he was alive, I hope that they are able to do the right thing now and find her "not guilty". | Meng Kimsuon, age 44 | MURDERED (butchered) by her husband, Seng Tong. On April 21, 2001...Tong (then age 45) was sentenced to jail for CHOPPING TO DEATH his wife. | Marlene Kirk, age 55, and her daughter, Melonie, age 25 | MURDERED by Joseph Corbett, now age 36, on December 16, 2002. Corbett stabbed to death his former partner, Melonie, and her mother, Marlene, in front of his own three year old son. Corbett was CONVICTED of murder on May 29, 2003, and sentenced to TWO life terms. (Eastmoor, UK) |
| Hamago Kitiyama | MURDERED by his wife, Akiko Kitiyama (age 54), in April 1999. On February 16, 2001, Kitiyama, a native of Japan, was found guilty of murdering her husband. No further details are available. (AUSTRALIA) |
| Francine Kraft, two months old | On March 9, 2001, parents, Deanna Richard and Daniel Kraft, received a stay of proceedings in their trial on charges of criminal negligence causing death (their daughter was STARVED TO DEATH)...Quebec court Judge Michel Mercier ruled the pair had been denied the right to a fair and timely trial as it took 18 months from the death until the couple was arrested. Laney has been charged with two counts of capital murder and one count of aggravated assault (she also attempted to kill her son, Aaron, age 14 months, who did survive the attack). | Cory Moar, age 29 | MURDERED (beaten to death) by an unnamed 14 year old relative around 1997 or 1998. The 14 year old was CONVICTED and sentenced to three years in jail. His brother, Elie Pruden, was CONVICTED and sentenced to six years in prison for his part in abusing his brother. During the inquest which took place in April 2001, it was disclosed that Mochrie had been suffering from severe financial and marital problems and that he also had a history of depression and suicidal tendancies. Pepall became "jealous" after learning that his wife was allegedly having an affair with his best friend and decided that the best way to punish her was to kill their kids. (UK) |

| Karen Pugh, age 43 | MURDERED (bludgeoned to death) by her husband, Christopher Pugh, now age 43, on June 22, 2002. Having been CONVICTED of "manslaughter by reason of provocation", he was sentenced on May 11, 2003, to six years in prison. Note also that there was a history of domestic abuse dating back to 1998. Pugh killed his wife as she was having an affair. (Apparently in Wales, if you commit adultery, it gives your partner grounds to butcher you and you get a slap on the wrist from the judge while he says it was "her fault". When are we going to change these laws that "blame the victim" and take away from the abuser the responsibility for "self-control"? There is never any excuse for killing your spouse or your children. Russo was CONVICTED and on May 22, 2003, was sentenced to 28 years in prison. He must serve a minimum of 23 years before receiving parole. Russo slaughtered his own parents because he was involved in gambling and drugs, was unemployed, and decided he needed money...his parents' money. (AUSTRALIA) |
| Kimberly Scavo, age 29; her boyfriend, Bill Sauer, age 46; and her mother, Tamar Carsello, age 50 | MURDERED by Kimberly's former husband, Keith Scavo. On February 10, 2001, Scavo died of natural causes on death row, He had been CONVICTED and SENTENCED TO DEATH in 1999 for the killing his ex-wife, her boyfriend and her mother on March 23, 1997. | Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman | The California Supreme Court on April 25, 2001, rejected O.J. Simpson's bid to overturn the $33.5 million civil court judgment against him for the deaths of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend, Ronald Goldman. O.J. Simpson was acquitted in a criminal case but he was then sued by the victims' families in civil court and found liable in their WRONGFUL DEATHS. Simpson planned on appealing. Either way, it is unlikely that the victims' families will get much more money as pensions cannot be attached through civil court judgments and under Florida law, they cannot sell his house. On March 12, 2001, Spangler (then age 69), received a life sentence for FIRST-DEGREE MURDER of his third wife, Donna S. Spangler in 1993. During the trial, he also admitted to killing his first wife, Nancy Spangler, and their two children back in 1978 (he had staged it to look as if his wife had killed herself and her two children). | Lorna Stewart, age 36 | MURDERED (shot) by her lover's wife, Rena Salmon, now age 43, on September 10, 2002. Salmon was CONVICTED on May 16, 2003, of shooting Stewart and was sentenced to life in prison. (London, UK) |
| Kay Sybers, age 52 | MURDERED by her husband, Dr. Williams Sybers. Sybers (then age 68) was CONVICTED of FIRST-DEGREE MURDER in the death of his wife on March 23, 2001, and received the jury-recommended "life in prison". He killed his wife by lethal injection on May 30, 1991. On May 12, 2003, Sybers was freed. What happened? The Court of Appeals ordered a retrial and the State Attorney decided not to retry him. | Alex Wessel, age 14 | MURDERED (strangled) by his own mother, Lesley Wessel. Wessel, then age 43, was CONVICTED of MANSLAUGHTER and sentenced to 4 1/2 years in prison on April, 6, 2001. Mitigating circumstances: apparently at the time, she was depressed about losing her house and husband to another woman. (UK) |
| Milan Anjonet Scott Wilson, age 3 | MURDERED by her mother, Rakeisa Scott. Scott, then aged 23, was CONVICTED of SECOND-DEGREE MURDER on April 11, 2001, in the DEATH of her daughter who was found encased in cement. (Long Beach, California, USA) |
| Walter Zepeda, age 19 | MURDERED (died of dehydration while tied up) by his father, Diego Zepeda-Cordero, age 45, in an botched exorcism on January 8, 2002. Zepeda-Cordero and Alex Osegueda, age 43 (a family friend) were CONVICTED of MANSLAUGHTER and sentenced on May 23, 2003, to four years in prison. Walter's mother, Ana Mejia-Lopez, age 53, pled guilty to failing to provide the necessities of life and she was sentenced to one day in jail after the judge took into account the 499 days she served in jail since her arrest. | Amanda Zhao, age 18 | MURDERED (strangled) allegedly by her boyfriend Li Zhang, age 18. She disappeared on October 9th and her body was found on October 20, 2002. She was murdered somewhere in between. On May 12, 2003, Zhang was charged with SECOND DEGREE MURDER. He has fled the jurisdiction (possibly in mainland China) and there is an international warrant out for his arrest. Han Zhang, Li's cousin and a roommate of the couple has been charged with enabling Zhang to flee to China. He is currently out on bail. (Vancouver, British Colombia, CANADA) |
