SWIMMING: -The water is not as deep as it looks, but because it has a dark bottom, it is very difficult to know where it is shallow and where it is deep. Also BIG DANGEROUS ROCKS are in the swimming area in spots, very close to the surface. NO DIVING and be careful swimming. Be very careful before entering the water, a very large snapping turtle hangs around the dock at times, DO NOT feed or get close to the turtle, they can be VERY DANGEROUS. The swim raft in the middle of the bay is ours and you are welcome to use it. WATER: -Don’t drink the water. -The cottage uses the lake as a water source. It has an electric pump to provide hot and cold water inside the cottage. PLEASE DO NOT RUN THE WATER IF THE ELECTRICITY IS OFF FOR ANY REASON, AS THIS WILL DRAIN THE SYSTEM AND THE PUMP WOULD NEED TO BE PRIMED. -We have supplied one large blue water keg for your use. The keg can be filled conveniently at the following locations: -13 KM south on hwy 169 (pump is next to tennis courts) -Bala tourist information center -Bala community center ( Maple road, next to the Bala General Store). The paddleboat has a hole in the exterior lining. It still works OK. To feel more comfortable, open the plug to drain the water between the base and the exterior lining. It is located at the front of the boat. Please leave boats upside down at the end of your stay. COMMUNITY NOTES: -Thorne lake is very natural and very peaceful.
