Quotes, Script, Summary & Animation of Shrek

Idea for Shrek 3 Movie came from a Writer's High School Story

Shrek 3

When a Shrek 3 writer was in Sayville High School, there was a battle between a small group of kids called the Vandals, and the "Jocks." Shrek reminded him of one of the Vandals that he grew up with. Below is the actual story of what would later be incorporated in "Shrek 3."

Intro

Throughout Sayville history there has been a conflict between the football team and those opposing it. The football team as ruled over the kids in the town for time immemorial, but not without opposition. There was a group of children loosely call the “Vandals” that stood up to them. Some people who were either Vandals in Sayville, or sympathizers included Teddy Roosevelt, Marlon Brando, and James Dean. Normally it was a kind of guerilla war, where the little people fought in secret. This is the story of one generation's great and historic battles.

Young Teddy Roosevelt on Long Island President Teddy Roosevelt was the legendary founder of the Vandals in Sayville. Youn James Dean in High School Young Marlon Brando When young acting students at the New School, both Brando and James Dean sympathized with the Vandals. Bando was expelled from the school when the they were still giving classes in Sayville.

The Start of the War

The kids who played football in the fall were the same kids that played basketball in the winter and baseball in the summer. They formed a tight gang whose power increased by the large number of followers in the school band, cheerleaders, and fans. The “Jocks” as they were known had the best parties, which often took place in the large mansions on the “right side” of the railroad tracks.

The Vandals were the smart kids that fought back. There were only a few, but they were brave and determined. They were known as the Vandals because they liked to commit Vandalism. It was part of their guerilla war against the unfairness of Sayville.

To a great extent it was a secret war because the Vandals were way outnumbered, and the teachers of course favored the Jocks. But every chance they got they would break things, cause problems, and play tricks. It was somewhat of a secret society of resistance.

An example of the evil of the place was that there was once a very beautiful girl that loved the cartoonist. One classmate described her as "pretty and unpopular." The cartoonist gave her some pictures that he drew and she has always kept them to this day. The girl was very beautiful but very sad and lonely in her childhood. She was constantly mistreated by the football team and she said in regard to one player, "I was very afraid of him." She was so mistreated by the group of kids that called themselves the Jocks that she said, “I never told my children about my early life, because it would upset them.” She grew very depressed but found solstice in religion and became an avid Christian.

It is called the Second War against the Jocks because the First War was fought by the drug addict/criminals called the Head against the Jocks.

Robbing the Football Captain’s Locker

master lock The captain of the football team was especially evil. He had a big chin and had a demon looking face. Like many of the football players, he was also on the basketball team. He used the lockers in the basement. During basketball season one year some of the Vandals were in the basement and needed money. In those days the Master Locks were not as well made as they are today, so the leader of the Vandals was so powerful that he could break open the lock by hitting it hard with his hand.

They located the sports team captain and the leader of the Vandals raised his hand and with a one strike opened the lock. They then searched and found a wallet. Inside was $25.00. They took the money and put the lock back on the locker.

A while later the captain came up the staircase enraged. He said that he will kill whoever stole it, because that was money that he saved to buy his father a present, with whom he was estranged. It was very important to him, which is why he saved the money for so long. He did not get to see his father often, so this was a great blow.

The Vandals had a good time with the money. They bought pretzels and Door’s albums.

The Weight room: Vandal make Football Team look Stupid

One day in the weight room the biggest football player was lifting weights, and was surrounded by well wishers. He put on a large amount of weight and as he was pressing it he was surrounded by team members that cheered him on. Because he was able to do it lift it, the team cheered.

The leader of the Vandals saw this. He just had to show off, so he walked over, grabbed the bar, and then lifted it three times!

There was shock in the room. He was not supposed to be able to do this. One football player said, “Wow, that’s a lot of weight!” But then one of the “Big Shots” said to him in a very low voice thinking no one would hear, “Don’t talk to him.”

The reason why it was such a shock was because he was one of the smart kids, and smart kids are not supposed to be able to do things like that.

The Riot at the Football Game

A popular way for people to punish student wrongdoing in Sayville is by group punishment. For example, if five students in a class are misbehaving, the whole class would be punished.

This gave the Vandals an idea. They would cause so much trouble at a football game that the school district would shut down the games. Immediately they went into action. In Sayville there was a long time tradition of Friday night football games. This was a big deal and people from all over the town would attend. The Vandals decided to cause as much trouble as possible. The two strongest Vandals of all time were leading the ruckus. They were both the strongest kids in their grades.

One of their accomplishments was to threaten the Sayville School District athletic director with physical harm. As the Vandals were on a rampage the athletic director came to them and yelled, “Stop doing this!” So one of the Vandals said, “Who the hell are you?” and he responded, “I am the Athletic Director of the Sayville School District!” This infuriated and really set off the Vandals. One of the Vandals started yelling at him and threatening him. The director backed down really fast. He got real nervous and starting to try to talk his way out of it. Being merciful kids, they let the administrator crawl away.

Eventually reinforcements arrived in a car that one of the Vandals stole. He was 15 and was driving the stolen vehicle without a license. It was then time for the best moment.

Upon seeing the mayhem, the Fleabag Gang joined the Vandals in the pandemonium. The leader of the Vandals said, “Lets break the window on the side of the building.” Then a huge crowd of kids ran to the building to throw rocks. What they found at the side of the building was nothing less than a miracle. Many felt it was a sign that god was on their side. It was crates full of rocks! The school was in the middle of having its roof replaced and the rocks were meant to cover the flat roof of the high school.

One of the Vandals yelled, “Grab the rocks by the handful and throw at the windows!” There were so many rocks hitting the windows that with the glare from the lights of the night, it looked like the whole building were coming down. Windows were broken all along the side of the building. Then all of a sudden a police car was spotted and everyone ran away.

On Monday morning it was announced that because of all the problems at the game, the tradition of the Friday night games would end. This was one of the Vandal’s great victories.

This is not actually the picture of the broken windows at the school, but they did end up looking something like this.

Football Hero Picked up and Thrown Through a Window

One day the Vandals were sitting down at the local mall in Sayville. A huge football player from Sachem wearing his jersey walked up to them and was quite insulting. This was not just any football player, he was the biggest linebacker of a High School with over 1000 students per graduating class. He then walked away. One of the Vandals had an idea. This guy was huge; he did not think that he could take him in a fight. So he grabbed a shopping wagon and ran straight at him hoping to hit him form the back as he was walking away to cripple him for life.

As the Vandal was running at full speed to hit him, the football player’s puny friend heard the noise and yelled, “XXXX watch out!” He turned and just in time kicked the shopping cart. The cart was knocked over and the cart was hit so hard the front was shaped like a “V.”

Sachem High School North Football Team Arrow SymbolThe huge linebacker then said, “Your first punch better be a good one, then you’re dead.” A huge crowd of Sachem kids began to accumulate and they were calling on the linebacker to “Kill him.” Even the girls were calling to the Sayville Vandals blood. The Vandal made the first punch, then the linebacker foolishly put the Vandal in a headlock. The Vandal then knew that the giant linebacker could not fight. Being the top wrestler in the county the Vandal knew what to do. He stood up, lifting the linebacker and threw him though a store window.

The linebacker was a bloody mess. The Vandal had a decision to make: Finish him off, or stop. It would have been so easy to kill him. Kicked him in the temple? Pull his neck across broken glass? But, a little voice told the Vandal to stop.

By this time a huge crowd accumulated. They were in shock because he was the school hero of a huge school with a graduating class of over a thousand students, and the top linebacker in the county. The reason why they were cheering on the linebacker was because the average person is a loser who needs other people to live though.

Unfortunately for them, they were disappointed.

The Party

The Jocks, otherwise known as the football team, use to have the best parties with the hottest girls. These parties were somewhat exclusive and only the “right” people were invited to them. Many of the parties took place in the huge Victorian mansions south of the railroad tracks.

They then planned a really extravagant party that would be catered, and all attendees would wear suits. Ever since kindergarten the person who was the leader of the Vandals at the time was their enemy. But because he became the top wrestler in the county they felt that he would now belong with them. So two jocks were picked to tell the leader of the Vandals that he was invited to the party. The leader of the Vandal said, well what about his friend? He is a member of the team. The two representatives of the Jocks said, “He cannot come, because he is not one of us.” So the leader of the Vandals said, “If he cannot go, I will not go.” Not go? “What do you mean to will not go, you must go!” But he would not turn on his friends. He was a loyal, faithful person that would not abandon his friends.

The Jocks were extremely critical of him, saying what is wrong with you; doesn’t he know that no one is supposed to turn down their invitations? They pestered him to go all the way to the party.

Al Oerter: World’s Greatest Olympian Shows Kindness to Mildly Retarded Teen.

Al Oerter Discus Gold Medal Olympics Al Oerter was the world’s greatest Olympian and a friend of the Vandals, and not of the Sayville football team. Al Oerter was against the Sayville football team’s cruelty. He befriended one of the Vandals who was mildly retarded and was one of the football team’s primary victims. The mildly retarded student and many other Vandals lifted weights at the same gym with 4 time gold medal Olympian Al Oerter. The person who was given the title, “The World’s Greatest Athlete” would listen to the mildly retarded child’s story of cruelty and encourage him.. Al Oerter was liked by the Vandals because he was a kind, sympathetic person who was so different from the teachers and athletes at their school.

Girlfriend Stolen by a Football Player

One of the Vandals had a beautiful girlfriend that he met over the summer. He was very happy with her and would take her to places like Lake Ronkonkoma. Then she stopped talking to him. He found out that she became the girlfriend of one of the football players, but not just any football players but a personal enemy.

Constantly throughout the school year he would call her a bitch and threaten her. Every day after school the Vandal would drive his car straight towards her to run her down, and she would have to run out of the way or she get hit. This went on almost daily throughout the school year.

Then one night the mildly retarded teenager, that was befriended by Olympian Al Oerter, heard music coming from a house. He walked over to see what was going on and he learned it was a football party. He walked inside and saw the traitorous girl on the lap of the football player, being held by him! He got very angry and started yelling, “Who do you think you are,” “You shouldn’t of left XXXX XXXXXXXXXX,” “You filthy bitch,” and just went on and on like that. But this time was different. She finally cracked. The filthy bitch put her hands over her ears and started screaming, “Get him out of hear, get him out of here!” The boyfriend whose lap she was sitting on just sat in silence like the rest of the team. Eventually, the mildly retarded teenage Vandal left.

Upon hearing this, the leader of the Vandals deemed that it was enough and they never spoke to the filthy bitch again.

Football Player Crippled!

There was once a star football player that was permanently crippled in a game. This made local headlines. Upon hearing this, the Vandals celebrated and some said it was a punishment from god.

Homecoming Holocaust: Vandal Sets Fire to Float with Homecoming King & Queen on it!

Every year the rotten kids in Sayville have an event called the "Homecoming" that the nice kids cannot take part in. So one of Sayville's heroes, and one of the famous artist's few friends, took matters into his own hands. Before what the rotten kids called the Homecoming Parade" he bravely took a cigarette lighter and set the float on fire ruining the entire ceremony! According to an eyewitness "Unfortunately, the homecoming King and Queen was able to get off the float."

As the administration always favored the rotten kids, Bill was of course punished.

The Cheerleader: Carved a Vandal’s Initials in her Arm with a Razor Blade

There was once a beautiful cheerleader in Sayville. Her early childhood was very difficult and she was treated with great cruelty by her father. We can only speculate as to the horror she went through. The beautiful cheerleader was taken in by a kindly, religious couple in Sayville. The man served god by working in a church and her mother dedicated her working life to helping people who were wrongly arrest and put in jail.

Because of the circumstances of her birth she had a very troubled childhood and had very low self-esteem. One day at the battle of the bands at the Old Junior High School she met one of the Vandals. He just started tongue kissing her and grabbed her br**st before he even talked to her, because her was shy. They soon became boyfriend and girlfriend. What attracted her to him was that he was supposedly no good. Because of her low self-esteem she felt she deserved to suffer, so she would be boys, and later a husband, that would abuse her.

Cheerleader Banged so Hard, She became Bow-Legged...

When he made love to her, it was her first time. Please Note: It was making love, not having sex.

The next morning, she got it so hard that she walked to her bus stop bowlegged! The story soon spread all over town, “Hey ##### must of really got f####d last night, she walked to the bus stop bowlegged!"

The Biggest Disappointment: Doing it with a Cheerleader

The Vandal always wanted to have sex with a cheerleader. One day he told the beautiful cheerleader to put on her uniform. So she went upstairs to get changed. Ten minutes later she walked down the staircase in her uniform. The boy thought, “Could this be real?” His greatest fantasy was coming true. They then went to the living room at the back of the house and got on the couch. He got on top of the cheerleader and kissed her. He felt her legs and moved his hand up until it got to her panty so he could remove it.

But the Panty would not come out! “What is this?” he thought. The cheerleader said, “The uniform is one piece, it cannot come off.” This was the biggest disappointment in the boy’s life because he thought he would be able to make love to a cheerleader in uniform.

What she heard amongst the townspeople about the Vandal was that he was evil and a monster. This is what attracted her to him. However, he was in reality a good, kind person that would never hurt her. To her surprise he was a learned person and honor student who would later become the only kid at his school to go to Harvard.

Because he was supposedly no good, the kindly couple that took her in forbade her to see him. So she took a razor blade and carved his initials into her arm to signify the Vandal’s ownership of her. The cuts were large, three inches across. She also did this because she was self-destructive. Because of what happened to her in her early life she felt she had no value and deserved to suffer.

She immediately went to the Vandal to show him what she did. He immediately brought her inside and put peroxide on her severely bleeding cuts and bandaged her up.  After seeing how much different this boy was from the kids from the football team the kindly couple then allowed her to keep seeing him.

Although she loved him, she would eventually leave him because of her self-destructive nature. The cheerleader loved her Vandal but she felt she could not stay with him because of her dark past. She would not talk to him, and whenever he came close to her she would completely freeze and not say anything. However, she would say who he could and could not date and went wild when he was making it with one particular druggie girl.

The cheerleader’s best friend was a hot blond that was also a cheerleader. Eventually the Vandal ended up making it with her. The cheerleader freaked out upon hearing this. She was especially upset because of all the boys to pick, she had to pick him. She demanded her friend stop all illicit activity with him.

The beautiful cheerleader then got into a series of abusive relationships. In her marriage she was treated cruelly and severely injured by her beatings. According a friend, “It got so bad, she had to move out.” They were eventually divorced.

Melissa Joan Hart's Stepmother: She had regular interaction with almost all people in this historical essay. According to friend Mackenzie Mosca she "was really cool" and a "great person." MacKenzie went on to say, "The Hart's are the nicest people." Her and Melissa grew up together in Sayville, but Melissa was a few years younger. A classmate said, "Lisa was nice to everyone."
The former Lisa Hunt. Melissa Joan Hart lived in Sayville at the time of these events. She was friends with the sister of one of Vandal's girlfriend, and had pity for a kid known as "Quasimodo."

Final Battle: Mohawk

The day came for the final battle. The toughest Vandal was a kid that would not put up the bulls**t. This one kid would fight back. This one kid would not sit back and watch the beatings, the unfairness, the abuse. A kid who would stand up. A kid who would not take it anymore

So he prepared for the final battle. He would not pollute himself with drugs or alcohol and lived his life like a Spartan. The day finally came to attack the center of evil, the football team. The kid shaved had his head shaved into a Mohawk. This was in the years before anyone saw ever saw. The day of the Final Battle had arrived. He would challenge the whole school.

The honor student arrived at Sayville High School the next morning. Sayville is a place where if someone is different he is instantly ridiculed. As the kid walked in ready for a suicide battle, many looked, none said a word. To his shock, everyone backed down.

Then the biggest shock of all: The kids on the football team copied him by shaving their heads

The moral of the story is, people love POWER!

Although not as spectacular as the video transfer, the audio is also very good. Shrek is not a movie requiring an extremely demanding soundtrack as it is mostly dialogue-driven. The action scenes, when they occur, are very well backed by the soundtrack.     There are five audio tracks available on this DVD. The four main tracks are English, Portuguese, Spanish and Catalan Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtracks at 448Kbps and an English Dolby Digital 2.0 Audio Commentary track at 192Kbps.     Dialogue is perfectly reproduced throughout the main feature and audio sync is spot on. The "Tech of Shrek" feature suffers from audio sync issues but I will talk more about that in the extras section. The main feature is perfect with all sound effects being timed perfectly with the on-screen action.     The soundtrack for Shrek combines contemporary music with an original musical score by Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell, with a number of favourites thrown in for good measure. The original score is very immersive and emotive, suiting the movie very well. The contemporary soundtrack really gets your feet tapping and comes across very well on this transfer with songs such as "I'm A Believer" (Smash Mouth) and "I'm On My Way" (The Proclaimers). Doesn't everyone love The Proclaimers?.... anyway, moving right along. The subwoofer is used to good effect during the action sequences (think dragon again) and to accompany the music. The subwoofer does not call too much attention to itself but is well utilized throughout. The surround channels are used throughout for ambient noises. Admittedly, the volume of the surrounds could be increased a little, but there is no denying that they are well-used. Action sequences are very well supported by the surrounds, such as the meeting with the dragon while rescuing Fiona.
