Where does J.K. Rowling get her ideas? She claims she does not know, which arouses suspicion.
J.K. Rowling Amazon.co.uk interview:
Amazon.co.uk: "Where did the ideas for the Harry Potter books come from?"
Rowling: "I've no idea where ideas come from and I hope I never find out,
it would spoil the excitement for me if it turned out I just have a funny little
wrinkle on the surface of my brain which makes me think about invisible train
platforms." From: http://www.cliphoto.com/potter/interview.htm
J. K. Rowling interviewed by "Stories from the Web" :
"Where do you get your ideas from?"
"I wish I knew. Sometimes they just come (like magic) and other times I
have to sit and think for about a week before I manage to work out how something
will happen. Where the idea for Harry Potter actually came from I really
couldn't tell you. I was traveling on a train between Manchester and London
and it just popped into my head. I spent four hours thinking about what Hogwarts
would be like - the most interesting train journey I've ever taken. By the time
I got off at King's Cross many of the characters in the books had already been
invented." From: http://hosted.ukoln.ac.uk/stories/stories/rowling/interview1.htm

Look how much this kid called "Hunter" looks like "Potter."
He is English, also flies and has an owl. Rowling said she got her idea for Potter in
1990, the same year this book came out. From http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Harry_Potter: "Comic book fans have noted that a comic book series first published in 1990 by DC Comics called The Books of Magic by Neil Gaiman shares many similarities to Rowling's book. These include a dark haired young boy with glasses named Tim Hunter who discovers his own potential as the most powerful wizard of his age after being approached by magic wielding individuals, the first of whom gifts him with a pet owl." Warner bought the rights to Harry Potter, then later bought rights to "The books of Magic," along with television rights to "Sabrina" and "Worst Witch." With billions of dollars at stake, did Warner Brother buy off people that Rowling may of copied from? |

"WDC: I read somewhere that some of the details in Rowling's books could be seen
as borrowing from The Sandman comic books--I believe owls carrying messages
for wizards was one example. Asked about this, Sandman creator and author
Neil Gaiman's response was basically so what? Storytellers pick up bits and
pieces from here, there and everywhere all the time as they create original
works The fact is that initially Gaiman did throw up his arms and yell
plagiarism. It wasn't until he had a movie deal that his comments began to
change. Initially he was terribly annoyed." - The movie company was
Warner Brothers who has rights to "Potter."

Warner owns the rights to Harry Potter. They later bought rights to Neil Gaiman's work, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and distribution rights to the "Worst Witch." They were the three main threats to the trademark. After Neil Gaiman started squealing plagiarism, "Warner Brothers have optioned Sandman for a movie..." according to Neil Gaiman's website. When it looked like ABC was about to dump "Sabrina the Teenage Witch" Warner went and paid the most it ever did for a comedy. How often does a show a network is dumping switches networks, let alone pay a record amount for it? Was Gaiman and the Harts who own the Sabrina show paid off? "WB swooped in on "Sabrina" when it became apparent that ABC was on the fence about renewing it for a fifth season..." according to "'Sabrina' Joins the WB coven" by Cynthia Littleton in the April 06, 2000 edition of The Hollywood Reporter. (http://melissajoanhart.net/news/hollywood_reporter/047.shtml) In 2000, Warner Brothers bought the TV rights to "Sabrina the Teenage Witch." But not just any amount, it paid "the most the WB has ever paid for a comedy show" according to Variety. ttp://www.canoe.ca/TelevisionShowsS/sabrina.html, Jam Showbiz, "'Sabrina' to switch networks?" Neil Gaiman's "Hunter" is a lot more like
"Potter" than Tanya Grotter is. Supposedly the Russian author Dmitry
Yemets plagiarized Harry Potter in his book Tanya Grotter and the Magic
Double Bass because both main characters are orphans who attend wizard
school and fight evil wizards. Harry Potter rides a broomstick and Tanya
Grotter rides a double bass.
Now compare Potter to the "Worst Witch." Isn't Potter more like the Worst Witch than Grotter? If we follow the standard of Warner and J.K. Rowling, is she not a plagiarist? They were sure quick to sue Dmitry Yemets. Is there a double standard here? |

Harry Potter was a character in a 1986 movie called "Troll." In the movie "Troll" Harry Potter was a dark haired, ordinary boy that discovered magic, wielded a magic spear, and battled a troll. Gee, sounds a lot like Rowling's character. | ||

Rowling, who uses the Government to Shut Down Authors, then Complains about "Book Banning."On Friday 29 September 2006 she spoke of Banned Books Week:"Once again, the Harry Potter books feature on this year's list of most-banned books. ...I have always taken my annual inclusion on the list as a great honour," and quoted Ralph Waldo Emerson "Every burned book enlightens the world." I guess by her own words, by getting the government to ban Dmitry Yemet's Tanya Grotter she enlightened the world? The American Library Associartion said: "Books in the Harry Potter series also were the most frequently challenged of the 21st century. The ALA reports there were more than 3,000 attempts to remove books from schools and public libraries between 2000 and 2005. Challenges are defined as formal, written complaints filed with a library or school requesting that materials be removed because of content or appropriateness." What they mean is, some library and schools do not want the book in their libraries. So, a school does not want a book in its own building, it means it is censoring? Censoring itself? Rowling sicked the Chinese government on the publisher of "Harry Potter and Leopard-Walk-Up-to-Dragon." She used the Red Chinese dictatorship to ban and censor a book! Authors have been threatened with jail by the Rowling machine! Before you say, "They took her ideas" remember this is a woman that used "Harry Potter" after it was already used in a movie in 1986. I mean, it is not like she came up with the Harry Potter kid. |
Things are...errr... interesting around here. Okay, maybe interesting is not the right word. Terrifying would be closer. It all started with a phone call recently from a Warner bros lawyer. The fellow said: "We're making a big movie and putting together a band of famous musicians together called the Wyrd Sisters. We're going to make a big splash, sound tracks, the whole shebang! So... you don't want our army of lawyers shutting down your girls' band... sign this piece of paper and we'll give you $5000.
Here's the way it is. We said no. It is our name. We own it. We're not about to be threatened into giving up our name. And Warner Bros has no business making a movie with a band with our name in it without at least some simple courtesy. All kinds of untrue things are circulating about our situation, but I am unfortunately unable to publicly discuss anything at this point. Suffice it to say that we didn't go looking for Warner...they came looking for us. - The Wyrd Sisters

"It was about a young (around 10 yrs old) English schoolboy (Tim Hunter) being versed in the realm of magic, and eventually taught magic by the Merlin and entering a school of magic. He had black hair in a bowl cut, round glasses and received a scar on his forehead - he was, in other words, a DEAD RINGER for Harry Potter (or the other way around, as the case may be)." MR. MYSTIC (Ken -------): 20th Century super-hero and mystic from Earth-X (with
a counterpart who lived on Earth-Quality). In 1940, Ken was the victim of a
plane crash in the Himalayas, where he was recovered by a band of lamas who
branded him with a mystic symbol on his forehead. This symbol bequeathed to him
magical powers which he used to battle evil. He apparently survived the conquest
of America by the Axis powers on Earth-X, because he was one of the team of
magicians John Constantine contacted to form a seance group to guide Swamp Thing
and his friends on their campaign to deal with the Dark. (1st app: SPIRIT
