The pale blue background represents our Group necker. The aeroplane shows our links with the local Royal Air Force base at St Athan. The flags are the RAF Ensign and the Welsh flag.

The 1st St Athan Scout Group was started in April 1948 and in 1998 we decided to celebrate the Group's 50th anniversary with a badge. A member of the Woodpecker Cub Pack won the competition to design the badge. It was worn on the uniform during the year, above the Scout Membership badge. Only 400 badges were produced and we have a few badges left to sell. They cost £1.50 stirling each plus postage and packaging (stamped S.A.E. U. K. only for up to 10 badges, postage to send badges overseas starts at 50p).
