Kelsee was born at 34 weeks gestational age. Labor was induced because low amniotic fluid. She weighed 3lbs 1ounce and was 15 ½ inches long. I had a fairly normal pregnancy compared to my other two. Kelsee remained in the hospital for 1 month, because of weight gain and temperature. Dr.'s in our hometown said everything was ok. When Kelsee was 3 ½ - 4 months old her medical problems started. On Sept. 19, 2000 we had her transferred from our hometown hospital where her ex doctor was treating her for pneumonia, to Childrens Medical in Dayton. We found out with her first hospitalization she was going into congestive heart failure. We also found out she had microcephaly, dandy walker malformation, rockerbottom feet, dilated cardiomyopathy, and scoliosis. She was in the hospital from 9-19-00 to 10-6-00. Kelsee was home for just 1 week when we noticed her food intake was drastically going down, she couldn't even take 1 ½ ounces from her bottle without tiring out.10-12-00 to 10-30-00 was the 2nd hospitalization at Childrens Medical Center in Dayton. Dr.'s diagnosed her with failure to thrive so they did a fundoplication and put in her G-tube. They also found out her liver had hemangiomas over half of it. A liver biopsy was done and the found the hemangiomas were benign. After Kelsee was released, she was admitted again and each time they found more & more medical problems. 11-6-00 to 11-15-00 her veins were failing and she had a Broviac Central Line Cathedar put in. 12-1-00 to 12-6-00 Broviac failed surgery for a new Broviac and muscle biopsy 12-30-00 to 1-5-01 urinary tract infection & grade 3 kidney reflux. 2-11-01 to 2-28-01 nephrotic syndrome (kidneys). 4-16-01 to 5-24-01 platelet count dropping, bone marrow biopsy, No t lymphocytes, possible bone marrow failure, enlarged liver and spleen. 7-27-01 to 8-4-01 cataract surgery, severe bleeding needed blood and platelet transfusions. 8-10-01 to 8-12-01 blood levels, needed transfusions.9-4-01 to 9-22-01 gastro bleeding, pulmonary edema, liver failure, kidney failure, bone marrow failure.

Kelsee passed away on Sept. 22 2001. From May 2001 to sept 10th Kelsee was having weekly platelet transfusions. The last week of her life she was getting transfusions every other day.

Kelsee was admitted to the hospital 11 times in her short life the longest she was home with us was 64 days. She had 13 different pediatric specialists taking care of her. She was on 15 different medications (the last days at home). From Dec. 200 til her last days she was on a constant feeding pump, many are hooked up to the pump only at night, she was on all day and night.
Kelsee was 15lbs and 24 ½ inches long, her head measured 34.7cm or 34.9cm. (Before she swelled really bad). I know her weight at one point, at the end was 20 lbs. O f all the Dr.'s Kelsee had no one ever found out why Kelsee was like this, believe me they did plenty of tests including chromosome tests. And never had an answer why? I will never give up on finding an answer WHY? I still do a lot of research to try to find an answer. I know an answer will not change anything for us, but maybe it can help someone else.

FOREVER MY POOH BEAR
It is so hard
How can it be?
You were given to us
Now you're taken away.
We have some great memories

But, the time was so short.
It doesn't seem fair
It doesn't seem right.
Your sweet little face
We want you to stay.
But, we must not be selfish
God wants you today.
You'll go up to heaven
It's a beautiful place,
You'll be an angel,
You'll be okay.
Your cute little smile
will be cherished forever
We love you Kelsee
