28 August 2004:
Sorry it's taken me so long to
update with all this, but details for the two Australian shows have finally been
put up, including a great review of the Backroom Bar show from
fasterlouder.com.au.
Special thanks to Ignifera of A
Place Called Home for a
lot of the information.
Live At The Wireless
A
Place Called Home
states that Triple J will be featuring a Live At The Wireless set from PJ's
Splendor show. However, Triple J's site hasn't updated with it yet. Last week,
Ash were featured and this coming week, Franz Ferdinand will be featured - both
from Splendor, so it's very likely that PJ's set will be aired. Keep your eye on
the Live At The Wireless
part of Triple J's site.
27 July 2004:
Triple J Interview
Polly gave quite an
interesting interview on Triple J this morning, where she talked about her
current band, making the new album, collaborations and more. She also said that
they plan to return to Australia in October/November for a full scale headlining
tour!
You can
download the interview from here
(The above mp3 is from
Triple J's website. I haven't listened to it yet. If it turns out not to be the
full interview, I'll upload the full interview sometime soon)
So far, I have no
information on either of the shows in Byron Bay. If you were at the shows,
please tell u about it!

PJ Harvey Performs At Splendor
TODAY
Between 10:30-11:30 tonight
Channel [V] coverage
Channel [V] will be featuring interviews with Splendor bands on their 'whatUwant'
program this coming Wed 28 July & Thu 29 July from 4pm (They will be playing
interviews only - no live footage from the festival). No word if Polly will be
featured or not.
23 July 2004:
Sorry about the lack of
updates, but there hasn't been a awful lot to update with until now.
Intimate Headlining Show
Announced For Byron Bay
Despite Splendor being
heavily promoted as Polly's only Australian show, a second PJ Harvey show has
been announced for Australia.
from pjharvey.net:
"Polly has just confirmed that she will play a one off special show in
Byron Bay the day after her headline performance at the Splendor In The Grass
Festival. The show, on Sunday July 25th, will be at the Back Room Club on Jonson
St. and will give fans an opportunity to see Polly and her band perform in a
more intimate venue.
Tickets for this show will be limited due to the size of the club. They go
on-sale on at 10am this Friday and will be available from the Great Northern
Hotel, Byron Bay. (PLEASE NOTE- no phone charge- cash sales only- tickets must
be purchased in person and are limited to 4 per purchaser, Over 18's only)"
Triple J Splendor
Coverage
From 2pm-6pm, Triple J
will be broadcasting live from the festival on Sunday, July 25, featuring
interviews and possibly live performances. No confirmation that Polly will be
featured, but I would say it's highly likely that part of her set will be aired
as part of the Live At The Wireless program (as has been the case with both
Polly's Big Day Out tours) sometime in the near future. Keep your eyes here and
on Triple J's website for info as
it comes in.
Australian Press

In the lead up to
Splendor, Polly has been popping up in various Australian publications,
including the cover of Ministry and a great feature
in Rolling Stone. I plan to have scans of these articles up in the next
few days.
The
'You Come Through' Video
premieres on rage
tonight! No word on whether or not the single will see release here - 'The
Letter' didn't, so again,
I'd say you'd be safer ordering an import if you want the single.
And, of course, if
you are attending either of Polly's show over the weekend, please send in
reviews, set lists, pictures or anything else!!!
7 June 2004:
Uh Huh Her
#14
Uh Huh Her
has reached #14 on
Australia's ARIA album chart in it's first week of release. ARIA is Australia's
mainstream singles and albums chart (it's Australia's equivalent of America's
Billboard chart).
This is the highest position that any PJ Harvey album has reached in the
Australian charts (Stories... reached #24 in 2001 after the Big Day Out
tour).
Vote for PJH in Triple J's
Net 50
'The Letter' is
currently at #15 on Triple J's Net 50, moving up from #23 last week. Click

31 May 2004:
Splendor In The Grass SOLD
OUT
As of Saturday, tickets
for the Splendor In The Grass festival have sold out completely - only 3 and a
half weeks after they went on sale and even before the second round of acts has
been announced.
There will be no further tickets released for the event. Last year, scalpers
were selling tickets for close to $500. So, if you're planning to go, I sure
hope you got your tickets.
Unlike myself - why is it
so hard to buy Splendor tickets in South Australia? No PJ for me...I'm not
happy...
Let's hope that Polly will
return to Australia for a headlining tour very soon.
And, of course, Uh Huh Her was released today. Buy it now.
23 May 2004:
'The Letter' Video
This is a little late,
but 'The Letter' video premiered on rage last Friday night. If you missed
it, be sure to tune in next Friday night. rage play lists can be found on
their website. Or, you could pop over
to pjharvey.net and watch it (if you
haven't already).
Also,
Splendor In The Grass
has been confirmed as Polly's only Australian show in July.
3 May 2004:
'UH HUH HER' AUSTRALIAN
RELEASE DATE : 31 MAY 2004
I've been unclear on
the Australian release date of 'Uh Huh Her'. Often, albums are released in
Australia a few weeks after their UK or US release dates (as is the case with
Patti Smith's new album). I found out today that the album will be released here
on May 31, just as in the UK.
Side note for those who are
interested:
I have no news on whether or not 'The Letter' single will be released here or
not. In the past, the leading single of Polly's album are the only singles we
get - though, note that 'Good Fortune' was released here about 6 months after
it's international release, so don't hold your breath. It may not even happen,
as has been the case with singles from others bands such as Placebo and Courtney
Love this year. Release dates are planned, then withdrawn. Even if a date is
set, Aussie record companies can't seem to get their act together with many
singles from non-Australian bands. If you want the single, I think you'd be
safer ordering an import copy once it's released overseas.
On the other hand, Polly has been quite loyal to her Australian fans since her
first visit here, so maybe we'll get lucky.
If you have any information, please let me know.
22 April 2004:
Again, it begins!
P J HARVEY TO
PERFORM AT 2004 SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS FESTIVAL
Triple J announced yesterday that PJ Harvey will return to Australia in
July, as part of the Splendor In The Grass festival in Byron Bay.
from Splendor's
website:
"In her ONLY
Australian show, we warmly welcome PJ HARVEY
the first lady of rocking roll who, along with her band have signed on for this
one off performance. Known for her superlative performances Polly returns with
her 7th and hotly anticipated album Uh Huh Her, the follow-up to the
hugely successful Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea. No
self-respecting fan would be game to miss this."
At this stage, there
is no official confirmation that the festival will be Polly's only Australian
show. Hopefully, this will not be the case, as headliners from past years have toured alongside the
festival (last year, headliners Coldplay
played a short East Coast tour, while Placebo and Veruca Salt toured nationally).
Don't get your hopes up, but do keep your fingered crossed.
Keep your eyes on the official site,
Sirens
Rising, A
Place Called Home,
pollyharvey.co.uk
and, of course, this site for the
latest info. I'll be updating this site as often as I have new information.
