| Chicklet (Chicky) was diagnosed with diabetes
in January 2001.
Previously she was acting very sluggish and obviously not feeling well. Since then, it has been a long and frustrating road that we both are traveling. Her first vet was increasing her dose of insulin (Humulin N) much too fast and this sent her bouncing. After seeing a specialist and getting a 36 hour curve, she was regulated at 5 units twice daily. Now she is slowly going down hill again with high sugar levels. Her eyes seem fine, but look a bit cloudy. I am lucky enough to be able to stay home with her most of the time. This has been a big adjustment for our family since we have to work and play around feedings and injections. It is not a chore for any of us though because we all love her very much and want her to feel better. I personally would go to the ends of the earth for my baby. I try to learn as much as I can about the disease (mostly from the www.petdiabetes.com site), and I am determined to do everything I can to help Chicky live for many years to come. I truly want to thank my fellow Email Members for helping us along the way. God Bless all of you and your sweet fur babies. Jere and Chicklet Chicklet crossed the Rainbow Bridge yesterday
