Alpine DancersSee our upcoming performances listed in "Cultural Events"!
The Alpine Dancers were formally established as a performing group in 1991. The Alpine Dancers specialize in teaching and performing intricate figure dances from Austria and Germany. The current repertoire of a wide varity of dances -- from graceful to highly energetic -- is listed at Alpine Dancers Repertoire. In addition to performing, another specialty of the Alpine Dancers is engaging audience participants, young and old, to join them in some of their dances. The Alpine Dancers hold regular free and open practices, usually on second and fourth Sundays, 4:00-6:30 pm, at the New Carrollton Municipal Center (map), 6016 Princess Garden Parkway, near Washington Beltway exit 20A. (Occasionally practice times and dates may change due to performances.) New dancers and musicians are always welcome.
Performances that are open to the public and practices of the Alpine Dancers are listed among the Washington Area Cultural Events at www.traxlers.org/events . The Alpine Dancers are members of the Association of German-American Societies of Greater Washington, DC (AGAS), the Country Dance and Song Society (CDSS), the American-Austrian Society, the Folklore Society of Greater Washington (FSGW), the German-Austrian Folk Dance Association (GAFDA), the North American Federation of German Folk Dance Groups, the United German- American Committee of the USA (UGAC/USA), New Carrollton Recreation, and Washington, DC Registry.
