The race was fast from the start. With Empire Speed's Dennis Humphries pushing the pace, the Toronto Inline Skating Club skaters had to step up to plate to try to contain the field. Ian Rubenzahl looked very comfortable in the pack along with Aaron Arndt, but it was Mogema's Peter Doucet who attacked for over half the race. Steve Robillard and Sergio Almeralla covered Doucet's breaks until there were 5 laps (1500m) remaining. Eddie Wilcox surged past the leaders in the last lap and go a lead of about 3 meters and won the race with his hands up. The battle for 2nd was close as Robillard and Aleralla lunged for the line. Second place finisher Martine Charboneau said that the race was hard as Beth Clarke, Meaghan Buisson, and Conny Strub pushed the pace. As the race started, Martine Charboneau attacked in the 2nd corner (3km into the race). Charboneau attacked on the 2nd and 3rd laps as well. Beth Clarke then attacked while Montreal's Allison Turner was in the lead. From thatn point on, Conny Strub, Martine Charboneau, Beth Clarke, and Meaghan Buisson formed the lead pack. In the last lap, Toronto Inline's Beth Clarke led the race out for a long pull and the race came down to a final sprint. The four leaders came down the final stretch with Meaghan Buisson getting the win over Martine Charboneau, Beth Clarke, and Conny Strub.

With 2 laps to go, Beth Clarke put the hammer down and was able to pull away from Meaghan Buisson. Clarke crossed the line uncontested while Buisson took 2nd. This was an exciting race to watch. As the announcer called the action over the sound system, the skaters made some moves that featured excitement and drama. Herb Gayle (Toronto Inline) pushed Desmond Kameka's limits along with Thomas Detwiler from Drive Sports. The skaters battled and the race came down to a shoot out in the last 4 laps. Team NRS's AJ Perrie pushed the pace and went off the front with 2 laps to go. After the race, Perrie said his coach told him to go at that point. It was a gamble, and the only skater who could not react to the move was Toronto Inline's Ed Duncan. With one lap to go, Herb Gayle pulled into the lead and was passed going down the backstretch by Desmond Kameka, who won the race by about 2 meters.
