Wes Danaher and Claudia Nell attended the 2004 Calallen Wildcats game against the Pflugerville Cougars.

As a young freshman, Wes had rushed for 458 yards in 72 carries, and averaged 6.34 yards per carry. He had also scored seven touchdowns.

Sophomore Wildcat Wes Danaher started the football season-opener against the Corpus Christi Ray Texans. Calallen ripped the Texans 43-8. Wes contributed 42 yards on 8 carries, and no touchdowns. On the follow week, The Wildcats destroyed the Roy Miller Battlin’ Bucs 62-10. #31 Wes Danaher ran for 4 touchdowns, 239 yards rushing on 17 carries and also had his first career pass reception.

In 1993 Calallen again met the Port Lavaca Sandcrabs; Wes had made his debut against the Sandcrabs a year earlier where he had scored 2 touchdowns in a close contest. Wes was developing into a fine running back with speed, moves and strong enough to break tacklers. On this rematch Wes scored three touchdowns, and helped the Wildcats to victory 64-7. In 11 carries, he rushed for 144 yards

Wes and the Fightin’ Wildcats sailed right through the 1993 30-4A Football District. Wes scored 15 touchdowns during the district run. In the playoffs, #31 Wes scored a touchdown, each, against Edcouch-Elsa, New Braunfels, and Austin Westlake. It was a Calallen first, when they beat Austin Westlake 41-24. Austin Westlake went on to Class 5A in 1994. They received a good bye trouncing.

Calallen made it to the State Semi-finals. The Wildcats met a best from Region III, the LaMarque Cougars. The game was scheduled for December 12, 1993. It had been a battle from start to finish. Wes scored two touchdowns against the Cougars and had put the Wildcats 31-27 on top with less than two minutes in the game. The Cougars scored in the final three seconds by firing a pass into the End Zone -- Cougars 33 Wildcats 31. The Wildcats had played their hearts out, and now, with the game over, they were scattered on the football field, feeling the painful agony that come with losing.

There was good news in the 1993 Football Season. Sophomore Wes Danaher had romped for 2024 total yards rushing; scored 27 touchdown, went on a scoring streak of 28 consecutive games. (Brother Cody Danaher had scored in 27 consecutive games.) No doubt about it. These Danahers were born to run.
