The Wes Danaher Football Report.
On January 30, 1992, I retired from Hughes Aircraft Company, Las Vegas, Nevada. 1992 was a wonderful year, the start of a new stage in my life; more importantly the start of a high school Freshman, Wes Danaher.
| Son of the Calallen High School Athletic Director and Coach: Mr. Philip C. Danaher and Mrs. Anita Danaher, Calallen Curriculum Director. Wes was born in San Antonio, Texas.
The Danaher Children were Brittney, Cody, and Wes. Cody and Wes would play football at Calallen High School.

| The call of my Alma Mater was very strong. I entered the New high school early in 1992, and to my left, on the entrance hall, was the Board of Education's Plaque. 1973-- President: J. I. Hall. Jessie did a great job during his 12 years of faithful community duty. |
Calallen High School has had some awesome bon-fires during its football seasons. Football fever is very high in this community. Coach Danaher has had to built extra bleachers to accomodate the Calallen Fans. |

Sometime in late September 1992, Coach Danaher promoted his son to the varsity squad. And on October 3rd , the freshman Wes made his opening debut against a fine team, the Port Lavaca Calhoun Sandcrabs. Wes finished his first varsity game with 35 yards on nine carries. On two of these carries, he scored touchdowns, both from the 9-yard line. One in the first half and his 2nd touchdown in the 2nd half, an identical nine-yard score. On the latter score, Wes put the Wildcats on top with a score of 21-14. The Sandcrabs had played a tough game against Calallen who at the time was ranked No. 6 in the State. The Wildcats at halftime led 14-10, and early in the 4th quarter, the Wildcats led 14-13.
Calallen final score was 28-13.
Wes Danaher, his first 35 yards, he was on his way to become the most prolific runner in Texas, and would finish his 4-year football career with 8855-yard rushing. First place in the Texas Class IV Rushing Ranks, and second to Kenneth Hall, Sugarland, who was the all-classifications Texas leader with 11,232-yard rushing. [Class 1A, 1950-1953.]
