Walcott, who won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1992, brings a poet’s eye and imagination to his paintings. His works are lush scenes that celebrate a part of the world that he knows best, the Cari bbean, with its natural beauty, fishermen, the markets and mountains and, always, the sea. The result is art of a comforting commonplace, suffused with a delicate play of light, color and shadow.

Walcott attended St. Mary’s College in St. Lucia and is a graduate of the Faculty of Arts of the University of the West Indies in Jamaica.
