Stories of allied ww2 aircraft - in this case - two Spitfires downed by JG 26 .....
Some early ww2 pictures, showing two british Spitires after a dogfight with JG26 fighters. - That's what i thought up to yesterday, but one of them was in deed shot down by Flak. A belgian visitor of my site (Mr R. Decobeck) gaves me some more  informations about this planes - thanks for that !

MT -  C / BM 329 -  this Spitfire Vb was downed by Flak on the 15th July 1942 .The markings are of the 122nd (Bombay) squadron, it looks like it happened near the channel ....
The pilot , Sgt. Dennis S. James was killed and buried at the Boulogne eastern cemetary (Pas de Calais) France.
In a little bit better shape the VZ - ? , according to these letters  a 412 (falcon) squadron Spitfire Mk Vb. The 412 was a canadian unit. In this case there are two possibilities :

1) P/O MacCague who was shot down near le Crotoy (France) on the 25th of April 1942
He became a POW, his Spit had the serial BL 784, i tried to read the serial at the original foto, but unfortunately it is not clearly visible - it looks like a BL 865 or something similiar..

2) P/O Young who was shot down near Cambron (France) on the 24th March 1942 and became POW. The serial of his Spitfire Mk Vb is unknown to me. He was claimed by the JG 26 ace Oblt. Muencheberg, that gives me the feeling that this must be his plane, because the picture came from the JG 26.... but - who know's ...
