Temesgen

This is a rough sketch of me and what I do either for a living or for the delight of doing it or both (luckily these two mostly coincide).

In a nut shell I am a computational engineer at the beginning of my career. I work on the exciting field of computational mechanics. Recently I have a new found passion for mathematics in general and mathematics education of undergraduate engineers in particular. You will find more about that in my professional page.

I would describe my self as a political junkie. At this point that simply means reading every other political blog and writing once in a blue moon. Not surprisingly my favorite TV shows and non-technical books are in politics. I have to admit I stayed up during the 2008 Iowa caucus. More on that in the politics page.

I hail from Ethiopia, an ancient beautiful country. If you have never been to Africa or the developing world and want to see ancient cultures unadulterated by foreign influence, Ethiopia is the place to be. If geography fascinates you, there you have it including the source of the Nile (No offense Godwin, it's just that Ethiopia contributes the lion's share). The current situation of a once powerful and prosperous state doesn't have much to brag about. We need to do a lot to lift it out of the economic abyss it is now. Click the flag on the left for more. By the way that is the flag of Ethiopia, not Jamaica.

Do you also want to ask 'R - question'? No, I don't run !
