The Australian Kelpie was developed in Australia in the late 19th century specifically for working sheep and cattle in the harsh Australian climate. Kelpies were  bred from short coated collies from Scotland.  The Kelpie is an extremely energetic and intelligent mate and if treated with respect, will do anything to please its master. The Kelpie is an ideal partner for for agility, flyball and obedience .  People owning a kelpie as a pet must be prepared to give the dog lots of  attention. as well as plenty of exercise and training.
