I would've given it to three of last year's Actors (PSH, Ledger, Phoenix) over Whitaker, but those were three of the best performances I've seen in quite some time. It helps that Whitaker's competition isn't terribly stiff, but nonetheless he blew me away and I'm happy to reward him for it. 1
