K2 (1991)
Catalogue Number: VSD 5354 Label: Varese Sarabande Total Score: 41:20 01.
The Ascent (27:39)
Comments: Two versions were released, the European one (with the title K2), and the US release (with the title: Music Inpired by the film: K2). Both have the same material, including the extensive notes about Zimmer, and the score inside. K2 is quite simply, a masterpiece. With a plethora of great action themes, moving cello cues, and cool guitar performances, K2 is a Zimmer essential. This CD has become quite hard to come by, so if you do see it, buy, buy, buy! |

The Lion King (1994)
Catalogue Number: 477177 2 Label: Walt Disney Records Total Score: 16:57 01.
Circle of Life (Arranged and Produced by Hans Zimmer) (3:53)
Comments: Won the Oscar for Best Score. The European releases (the French version has the best cover IMHO) of TLK have the bonus score track "Hyena's," which can be found on the bootleg, "Follow Your Dreams Volume I." Numerous other TLK tracks can also be found on both Volumes of "Follow Your Dreams" such as an instrumental of tracks 1, 2, and 5 from the original soundtrack. A Zimmer essential, that unfortunately has quite a noticeable amount of unreleased score. The Lion King on Broadway (199?)
Comments: The Magical Music of Disney (199?)
Comments: Conducted by Erich Kunzel- performed by the Cincinatti Pops. The Lion King: Circle of Life (Single) (1994)
01. Circle of Life
Comments: Limited picture disc single, containing
4 tracks- no new material (I'm not totally sure as to whether the above
tracks are the Elton John versions, or both- can anyone clarify this?
Thanks)

Millennium (1992)
Catalogue Number: ND-66001(original) NAR 46962 (re-release) Label: Narada Records Total Score: 53:55 01.
Shaman's Song
Comments: Was Re-released in 1999- indentical content, different cover. The "Millennium Theme" also appears on the bootleg, "Follow Your Dreams: Volume I." Reportedly, Mark Mancina composed much of the rest of the CD- his music is nothing short of brilliant! The "Millennium Theme" penned by Zimmer is also incredible, getting it's best performance in the short, but nevertheless great second track. Millennium: Selections from Millennium (Promo)
01. Shaman's Song
Comments: Promo with a handful of tracks from the original CD release. |

Muppet Treasure Island (1996)
Catalogue Number: 7243 8 37159 2 3 Label: Angel Records Total Score: 26:00 01. Treasure Island (1:07)
Comments: I don't have this CD (yet), but when I do, I'll let you know! I hired the film just to hear the score- honestly, it didn't quite do anything for me, but from what I've heard otherwise, it's a great action score- similar to the second track from A League of Their Own |

New Music in Films (1988)
Catalogue Number: CH 530 Label: Milan Records Total Score: 48:32 01. Burning Secret (23:59)
Comments: I don't have this score yet! Has music reminiscent of Ennio Morricone's ethnic pipe music from "Once Upon a Time in the West"! |

Nine Months (1995)
Catalogue Number: 74321 30110-2 Label: Milan/BMG Music Total Score: 30:00+ 04. Baby, Baby (4:00)
Comments: I recently acquired this score (Dec 1999), and what a score indeed! Very, very beautiful music for strings, and piano- fastly becoming my favourite Zimmer score. Has a very classical tinge here and there, as well as an odd track by Nick Glennie-Smith that sounds like a chorus out of Crimson Tide! Top 5 score, definitely. |

Pacific Heights (1990)
Catalogue Number: VSD-5286 Label: Varese Sarabande Total Score: 36:42 01.
Part I (12:14)
Comments: Difficult to find. The score has a distinct dark feel; this accomplished but lots of Zimmer dissonance, and a malevolent jazzy feel to the music. The score is complemented excellently by Carmen Twillie's (of the opening song of The Lion King) wordless vocals. There's also a cool mandolin performance in the latter tracks. |

The Peacemaker (1997)
Catalogue Number: DRMD-50027 Label: Dreamworks Records Total Score: 54:41 01.
Trains (13:51)
Comments: Zimmer's first score as head of Dreamworks, and what a score indeed. Quite under-rated by many, The Peacemaker has got some of the geatest moments Zimmer has ever written (ie. any cue containing wordless vocals are excellent). There's also a cool remix (so-to-speak) of the theme from Crimson Tide; you'll notice it in the closing minutes of the 4th track. Oh, and if you go to my audio page, you'll find a clip from the unreleased End Credits! Promo disc (on the left) has no extra material. |

Point of No Return (1993)
Catalogue Number: 0786366225-2 Label: Milan/ RCA Records Total Score: 26:12 01.
Hate (7:26)
Comments: Also known as "The Assassin"in Australia, this score has a very strong classical influence (eg. repeated, ascending motifs- I think that's how you describe it- been way too long since I picked up my music theory book!). I don't particularly like this score that much, but it's certainly not bad- just not my "type" of music (which is the same with The Fan). |

The Power of One (1992)
Catalogue Number: 7559613352 Label: Elektra Records Total Score: 30:34 01.
The Rainmaker (7:46)
Comments: What an uplifting music experience! The entire album by Zimmer is basically non-score (however there are some symphonic arrangements similar to that of "God U Tekem Laef Blong Mi" from The Thin Red Line), meaning of course it's almost 100% beautiful vocals! If only every score of this type sounded this great (take note Goldmsith fans!) |

The Prince of Egypt (1998)

Deliver Us (Song Produced by Hans Zimmer) (7:16)
The Prince of Egypt: Collector's Edition
01. It Is Only Beginning (3:43)
The Prince of Egypt: Sampler
12. The Burning Bush (7:16)
Comments: 5 POE CD's were released in total! Score and song were nominated for Best Original Comedy or Musical Score, and Best song- only the latter category won- Zimmer is once again denied an Oscar (Anne Dudley stole his As Good As It gets oscar- at least she made up for it with her brilliant American History: X). Nevertheless, one of Zimmer's most inspiring scores to date. Music ranges from ethnic, emotional, to inspired. POE: Collector's Edition contains 2 very, very good score cues that weren't on the original soundtrack- a definite must have. The POE box set contains all three standard released CD's (that is, the Inpired, Nashville, and Original Soundtrack CD's). The Japanese printing of POE is sung in Japanese (as would other international releases I'd imagine) The press kit contains odds-and-ends that aren't available anywhere else- eg. movie stills, score demos, etc. There is a reported 2-CD complete score bootleg floating around- unfortunately, it contains sound effects (taken from the DVD source). I've also heard that some real (ie. SFX-free) unreleased score tracks are available- I cannot obtain them unfortunately- they do not amount to 2CD's of score though. Lastly, Harry Gregson-Williams contributed a cue or two to the score- shame they didn't get a release either. |
