What is a "volkssport"?    A volksmarch is typically a 5 or 10 kilometer walk through a scenic or historic area over a pre-determined route. Walks are non-competitive and participants may walk, jog or run at your own pace, within certain time limits. We also occasionally host volks-ski, volks-snowshoe, or volks-bike events.
There are three basic types of events:
Events: Walks, bikes, or swims on weekends and evenings which are hosted by the local clubs with staffed registration and checkpoints. You register at the start and then walk your own pace on marked or mapped routes.
Guided walks: A guide leads the group along the route. These usually have a single specific start time.
Year-round (or seasonal) events: Self-guided walks, bikes, swims available most every day - somewhere. Register at the registration box, take a map and guide yourself on the route.
Bring your friends, bring your family...come Volkssport with us!
