| Welcome
to my tribute to one of the greatest school bands ever: The Zit remedy.
Formed in 1987, by Joey, Snake, and Wheels, the Zit remedy was one of the
biggest bands at Degrassi (ok the only band). Led by lead keyboardist and
vocalist Joey Jeremiah, lead guitarist Snake, and bassist Wheels. Their first
and only single "Everybody wants something" went straight to number one
....in Joeys head.
The track "Everybody wants something"
was the only single ever produced by the Zit remedy, found on the debut
1988 casette: "The Zit Remedy..live". Following the tragic death of Derek
"Wheels" Wheeler's parents in the fall of 1988, the Zit remedy took an
extended hiatus, and almost broke up. Archie "Snake" Simpons emotional
problems with Wheels also caused confict in the band. Joey made copies
of the demo tape, and gave them to Wheels in hopes of rasing his spirits.
At first, Wheels broke the tape and said "I dont want to be in your stupid
band" Joey didnt take this to heart like he should have... he then allowed
himself to be beaten up by the disgruntled Zit remedy Bassist.. nad soon
after Wheels accepted the demo tape, and joined the band again. However,
during Wheels' time off from the band, Joey and Snake brielfy hired promising
bassist Simon.. who at the tender age of 13 was showing some real promise
on the 4 string beast. With Wheels quiting and re-joining the band every
week, the Zit Remedy was seriously thinking of asking Simon to join the
band full time. Who could forget when the Zits partied at Snakes house
(while his parents were out of town).. took out Snakes parents car, broke
the light on the car.. then got grounded (all 3 of them got grounded).
Joeys parents even went as far as taking away his keyboard... leaving
the Zit Remedy DEAD for a period. The final straw came as Wheels sold
his bass in favour of playing videogames and the local arcade and eating
french fries. "You sold your bass?" Joey said sadly. "Its not like we
were going anywhere Joey" Wheels replied. That was the final straw, and
the Zit Remedy would not be heard from for a long time.
A Dark Period.
Soon after the Zit remedy
took there long break, the boys entered the brand new school.. called
Degrassi High. The band (with Wheels) discussed their future plans, and
the direction they wanted to take. "We gotta change the name" Joey said,
and they did change the name. Something more mature, something more adult
to go along with their new highschool surrondings... that name? THE ZITS.
They dropped the remedy, but they kept the one hit song. Joey shopped
the demo tape they had made before (the same tape that was rejected by
CRAZ radio), but no one was biting. "We need a video!". The band appraoced
young filmmaker Lucy Fernadez for help producing their independent video.
At first they just wanted the use of her camera (because its very difficult,
and chicks cant handle it), this made Lucy mad. After several revisions
to the sexist video script, Lucy finally agreed to shoot and direct the
video. Using Clutch's ultra cool car, the Zits shot their video in and
around Degrassi.
Sadly as episodes of "Degrassi
High" continued, so did the lack of interest in "The Zits", and the band
was talked about less and less, until finally they were forgotton about.
This page is dedicated to the millions of Degrassi fans who sang along
with the band, who cheered them on as they played live, and who carried
the "ZIT" torch through the dark periods that followed. This is the biography
for the greatest band in the Degrassi universe....

THE COMPLETE ZIT REMEDY DISCOGRAPHY
The
early years...
 |
The Zit Remedy used
to practice in the Degrassi Junior High Gym. Sometimes if they
were held up in class, or taking their sweet ass time walking
around, they would say "Hurry we are going to be late for
practice!" but when you guys ARE the band, you arent being
late for anyone but yourself.
The Zits partied one night at lead guitarist SNAKE SIMPSON's house,
and after waking up after a night of heavy drinking (of pop),
Bassist Wheels Wheeler remembered that he had an eye doctor appointment!!
The Zits were forced to steal Snakes parents car. The car's back
tail light was damaged during the trip (or so the boys thought),
and they had to spend 80 dollars from their amp fund to get it
fixed!
Well when Snakes parents got home, the truth was revealed that
the light was broken prior to that day, and the boys were found
out for taking the car joy riding. The band members were all grounded,
Wheels wasnt allowed to hang out with the guys, Joeys keyboard
was taken away by his parents, and Snake was forced to take ballet
lessons. How obscene. |

Marketing
of a dream...

Everybody
wanted something back in Junior high, and that something was the
debut cassette from the Zit Remedy. These babies sold like hotcakes
throughout Degrassi Junior high, and the reason was not always
good tunes. A few bad apples like Alex Yankou, decided that the
Zits album could be used for his own perverted pleasures. TO BE
TAPED OVER. He can be overheard commenting on how the cassettes
used for the Debut album cost less than a blank cassette of the
same length and quality. Caitlin Ryan, proved to Joey that she
had good taste in music by purchasing the album, later it was
disvered that this was a ploy to get Joey to like her (how could
anyone NOT like Caitlin).
For 2 dollars, your world could be changed forever. Wouldnt you
like to own a piece of history? wouldnt you like to own the tape
that was recorded as Wheel's parents bought the farm? |

LIVE
AT DEGRASSI JUNIOR HIGH!
 |
The
Zit remedy was booked to play the school graduation dance, but
after Joey learned he flunked grade 8, he almost refused to
play. Sulking at the local Degrassi hangout, eating french fries
and playing videogames, Snake found him and said if he couldnt
play to his closest friends, how would he play for thousands
of people? Joey swallowed his feelings, and came to the show...
dressed in his classic tuxedo tshirt. Even Mr. Raditch, the
reason why Joey failed had something to say "He came? thats
great!". Everyone danced, Miya got down in her wheelchair..
Miss Avery shook her bootie...The Zit Remedy played, and they
kicked ass, so much ass that even baby Emma inside Spikes tummy
wanted to come out and party. |

Thats all for now kids, I
know this page has been in the making forever.. but the fine art of making
webpages takes time.. What do I have for the future? more information
on the ZITS of course... and I plan on recording a version of "Everybody
wants something". Sound good? you bet!
