SunnyLUG is the Linux User Group primarily for the people of Jodhpur, which is also known as Sun City (and hence the name Sunny). But this is the internet age, geographical boundaries do not pose a limitation for information and knowledge exchange in this free world. And hence SunnyLUG, though situated in the heart of the Thar Desert in the beautiful city of Jodhpur (not to mention, in the princely state of Rajastnan, India)  is for all those who are interested in the cause of GNU/Linux in anyway. SunnyLUG at present has members not just from Jodhpur but from other parts of India and the rest of the world. SunnyLUG was founded on 14th May 2003.

The primary goal of SunnyLUG is to provide an open forum for the free exchange of information about the GNU/Linux Operating System and related topics. To accomplish this goal, SunnyLUG shall:
  1. Promote the use of GNU/Linux and related products whenever appropriate;
  2. Work to help members improve their understanding of GNU/Linux planning, installation, maintenance, and operations;
  3. Share relevant technical, educational, and administrative information among its members and with other GNU/Linux users groups;
  4. Encourage individuals and organizations to become members, in order to increase the density and diversity of experience and expertise in the group.
Mailing List Etiquette / Suggestions / Rules

The three words above are pretty much synonymous. And I guess everyone hate rules. But the fact remains, that these are very important for the health of any LUG, SunnyLUG being no exception. These rules basically define the code of conduct, and each member is adviced to carefully go through these. Some of these are mere suggestions while otheres are really serious. These have been formulated just to make the life of all the members and the moderators peaceful. Such incidents have occurred in the past where some members have knowingly or unknowingly broken some serious rules (like spamming the mailing list) resulting in banning from the group. And believe me banning a member is the toughest decision for a moderator, always done with a heavy heart ! Read these rules in the format of your choice:
Also read the Canons of conduct for the members of the Linux community.
