Ebba was a nurse on a psychiatric ward in Ottawa who spoke out against ECT and got fired! I know Ebba. ECT could be given to you or to someone you know. People put too much trust into psychiatry and that is not a good thing at all. Why? Read my website and its links and it will open your eyes as to what really goes on behind the locked oppressive psychiatric wards all over the world. This torture must stop now.

I want to share with you my true life experiences as a person who was tortured by the mental health system in Canada for l8 years from 1972 to 1990. Since 1990, I have not been admitted to a psychiatric ward nor have I taken any psychiatric drugs/medications. With the help of my brother, supportive friends, mental health professionals, therapists, psychiatric survivor groups, peer counselling, and many other people, I began the journey from recovery from the psychiatric industry and from the toxic use of psychatric drugs.

During the time I was on psychiatric wards being "psychiatrized" this is some of what happened to me. " I was given 15 different psychiatric disorders (labels); given heavy doses 14 kinds of psychiatric medication (drugs); 5 ECT's (shock treatments, also known as electroconvulsive therapy and electroshock therapy; physically assaulted with needles "chemical restraints"; mentally abused; brainwashed into thinking I was mentally ill and that I would never be able to cope in society again. Well I proved them all wrong!

Where were my human rights? I had none on the psychiatric wards. My dignity and human rights were not respected. It was a dangerous place to be on a psychatric ward.. My peers were not dangerous, the staff could be violent and forced me to take medications and get electroshock therapy without informed consent. I am a peaceful person who is NOT violent. I was a very timid person and frightened most of the time while I was on the psychiatric wards for good reason. You never know how long you are going to stay on a psychiatric ward, it is up to the psychiatrist to give you your freedom.

I was diagnosed in 1995 at a local Ottawa hospital as having permanent memory loss as a result of having had ECT. Where were my human rights? I had none. The psychiatric industry tried to kill my spirit but they did not succeed.

I knew many other psychiatric survivors whose spirits were crushed and they are unfortunately not with us today. They are dead. Many of those were my friends and I miss them. My website will expose how I was tortured by psychiatry. No one should have to go through what I did. It is a crime against humanity. It must be stopped.

Many former psychiatric survivors, mental health professionals, and supporters all over the world are working to together to expose the many abuses and oppression by psychiatry that still exists to this day. I am not afraid to speak out and tell the truth on how psychiatry tortured me and many others like myself.

I must thank insulin shock survivor and my friend Don Weitz from Toronto Canada. and Dr. Bonnie Burstow who have worked for 30 years to expose the many psychiatric assauts and violations in psychiatry. Don and Bonnie co-edited the book called "Shrink Resistant - The Struggle Against Psychiatry in Canada. They are my mentors.

I would also like to thank Leonard Roy Frank for his continuing support. Leonard had both insulin shock and electroshock therapy. Leonard who lives in San Francisco wrote the acclaimed book "The History of Shock Treatment".

These people are my mentors. Don Weitz has given me much support for nearly 20 years now. I also thank David Oaks, the director of Mindfreedom International www.mindfreedom.org) in the USA for working tirelessly for over 28 years for to expose the many human rights violations in the mental health field. David has given me much support. I also want to thank Jane Scharf, Dr. Lolita N., and Kathleen Whipp who gave me support and validated my bad experiences by the psychiatric industry.

My brother Chris and his friend Jason has been very supportive of my work against the medical model of psychiatry as they know this work is important for me to do.


Electroshock is being given more and more. I want to help end electroshock worldwide with many other people like myself, friends and families of psychiatric survivors, health professionals, doctors, psychiatrists, lawyers and mental health advocates. etc who are working everyday around the world to do this. I cannot believe that in the year 2008 that electroshock - the barbaric torture that it is - is stil continuing to be given to people. ECT is a crime against humanity and must end now. No one should have to go through what I did in the psychiatric industry. I want to thank everyone who has ever spoken out against psychiatric abuses.

May the main stream media take up our plight and print our stories about psychiatric abuses. With the internet at hand, the time has come for all the world to know the truth - that the medical model of psychiatry is a travesty!
