| CALLING ON ALL ECO-VOLUNTEERS. CONCERNED CITIZENS, All Paddlers, Canoers, and Kayakers. WE INVITE TO JOIN US FOR THIS 5th Annual clean water action event to raise awareness for the ecological restoration of the historic canal. Who> What> Where> and When :Armed with a fleet of Urban Divers Skiffs, Dredgers Canoes, individual volunteer's rowing crafts, and landinds net, eco-volunteers are guided on a clean-up tour to pick floatable debris and document pollution along the estuary. Debric collected is sorted, documented,and logged on national database. Data collected helps provide an assessment on the impact of CSOs, Run-off and Illegal Dumping on the Gowanus Canal. Activities Includes: A) Canal Exploration, B) Water Quality Sampling Workshop with The Urban Divers-learn about a pilot technology project being implemented to monitor water quality in Gowanus Canal,D) Multimedia Display of Live Underwater Video Transmission of the Gowanus Canal. E) The Urban Divers will serve tasteful gourmet BBQ Tilapia, courtesy of AREAC, Brooklyn College, and CHEF Brian ( Dredgers). F) Distribuition of UDEC's artful booklet- Gowanus Canal... a little estuary taht flows in Brooklyn. Rendez-Vous at 2nd and BOND St at Canal. F or G to Carroll. Join The Urban Divers on frequent boats trips along the NY/NJ Harbor Estuary aboard our motor boat or paddle skiffs to collect water quality data, monitor fish traps and document pollution on project sites. No experience necessary. We will train. Must be 18 and older. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
