What's Inside In
My New York City Subway Homepage:
Remember those SubTalks ?
Why I Like New
York City Subway So Much
I lived in the Bronx when I was a boy. My family lived near the
Burnside Ave station. I liked to hear and watch the #4 trains running
back
and forth. Sometimes I stood at the front ends of a #4 train, or
an R32 D train, and was amazed
at the complexity of the subway system. Thereafter
I began to love the New York City Subway system, especially wanted
to know the location, elevation, and crossings of the tracks. Since
I was too young to travel alone,
most of my childhood memeories are on Lexington Avenue line (4,5,6),
Flushing line (7), Broadway line (N,RR), and Central Park West line
(A,AA,D) on weekends.
One time I wanted to board a #5 train. My parents said it could not
take us home. But I boarded it anyway. I saw myself dragged out of the
#5 train by my dad. You can see I was already crazy about the NYC
Subway at a very young age!
I was back to
Taiwan when I was 7 and a half years old. It is very tough for a young
child not to see what he likes most. Sometimes I draw the
World's Fair cars on the Flushing line. Sometimes I picked up the old
subway maps trying to pick up my memories about
the NYC Subway, although I nearly forgot how to speak English.
Seventeen years later, I was back to the U.S. When I boarded an R32
E train at World Trade Center on August 10, 1992, that was the first
time I boarded an NYC Subway train
since our family moved back to Taiwan. Anybody could not wipe away my
smile.
Taking the advantage of studying in the University of Maryland, I
have a
lot of opportunities to get in touch with NYC Subway. Not only do I
ride
all the routes and from terminal to terminal, but also take photos and
video tapes in the whole subway system,
attend tours hosted by either New York Transit Museum or Electric
Railroaders' Association, and even collect old subway maps via eBay or railroadiana
shows. I feel that I am in cloud nine! Because of my love of NYC
Subway, I create this webpage totally
devoted to the NYC Subway system.
In this webpage, you can not only access some of
the good sites about the NYC Subway, but also see the NYC Subway
pictures I
have taken since July 1995. So enjoy your trip to my website!

I have written
a lot of articles about the subway. All are written in Chinese. Hope
you
can understand why I am crazy about New York City Subway. Sorry for
those
who don't understand Chinese. I wrote those articles to let the people
in
Taiwan know more about the beauty of the New York City Subway. It is
very
hard to translate back to English.
I have translated the article,
Brief
History of NYC
Subway, into English. If I have time, I will try to translate more
articles
into English.
