| Your task is to follow through five activities and then complete a Powerpoint presentation. With your partner, you will discover where certain Native American tribes live and where their reservations are located. Your search will include looking for Native American homes, recipes and myths. Most importantly, you will read about a Native American who has had a positive influence on life in the United States. | Activity One | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| You will begin your task by reviewing your map of the United States regions (also located in your text) with your partner. Before you go further, be sure you know the name of each region and where it is located on the map. Your task, with your partner, is to locate in which region the Native American tribes are located (your teacher has a list). You may use the websites below to find a map of where all the reservations are located. Your teacher will give you an exit slip at the conclusion of this lesson so be prepared! |

| First, you will watch a clip on Native American homes through United Streaming. Today you will find pictures of authentic Native American homes. Remember to save your information so that it can be attached to your final project. Also, make sure save the address of the pictures so that you can cite it in your Powerpoint. | It is time to eat! Native Americans enjoyed many types of food. Pick two tribes. Find a recipe that each tribe made. Independently in your journals, compare and contrast the ingredients in each recipe. | Your last activity is to research the life of a famous Native American. Then design a coin that reflects the contributions the person made to history. Your coin should have two sides: one side should be a head picture of the Native American and the flip side should contain symbols reflecting their contributions. | Your teacher will review how to use PowerPoint with you. If you need to review later, please use the link below. Your final project is to be completed with your partner. You will need to select a Native American tribe. Then you will create a slideshow about the tribe. You must answer the following questions in your slide: In what ways do the landforms and climate affect how the tribe lives? How does the design of their home reflect where they came from? Why are the myths/legends of the Native Americans important to us today? Which Native American from the tribe you selected influenced history? Be sure to include a picture of their homes and a picture of an influential Native American. Be sure to tell about a myth from your tribe. What why question did the myth answer? |
