Riverdance in SingaporeThe photos above are of the various meetings we had with the cast and crew of the Liffey group of Riverdance in October and November 2000 on their trip to SingaporeFirstly we surprised them in their civvies at the airport on Sunday morning (they had been out of bed at 5:00am after a show the previous night). Our dancers presented them with flowers and did a short dance of welcome for them. They then all posed for photos with us. On the Tuesday night we heard that many of them would be down the stairs in Father Flanagan's at a reception organised for them and got down there with the camera again for a few drinks and a bit of craic. On Wednesday they attended a reception at the Ambassadors new zen-like residence (the furniture hadn't actually arrived yet). There they played a few tunes and Morgan Crowley gave us a lovely rendition of "Danny Boy". Finally our dancers (from the Irish Inspiration Dance Company) attended the matinee show on Sunday 5th and attended a workshop on stage afterwards. We'd like to thank the Riverdance company and the players and dancers especially for their great good humour and willingness to join with the Irish community in Singapore in celebrating our Irishness. We'd also like to thank Amy of the Singapore promotion company for all of her help and enthusiastic attendance at all of these functions. |
