These are photos I took in 1997 along the route that we hiked in 1955.

This is a photo of the route we took on our way home. The line that winds through the picture shows the exact route we took. At the top, the poultry farm is marked, but buildings no longer stand on the site.   Bruce's bump is marked because it is the place where I left the dinosaur bone that was too heavy to carry. When I returned last summer, 42 years later, I could not find the bone.

This is the formation at the end of one of the coulees.

Instead of crossing the coulees by climbing up and down each one,

we were able to just walk around the end.

HoleAcs.gif 7 kbI took this photo from the hill which faced

the hill where the hole was.  There appears to be a

path that goes to the top.  However,

Hole-cu.gif 8 kbat the top was this thing.

This photo was taken looking down into a shallow hole.

There are a few flowers growing inside,

so it looks like the hut caved in long ago.  Judging from the appearance of the side of the hill, I would guess that the entrance to the cave was closed off about 40 years ago,
and this hole was created when the inner part later caved in.

elephant back 34 kb

This is what we called elephant back.  My writings say we found some dinosaur bones near the bottom of a hill.  That means they could have been found here (my vague memory suggests that this is where we found the first bunch), or we could have found them in the small coulee to the right, or they could have been found at the bottom of another hill.  When I checked last summer, I could not find any evidence of bones.  But take a close look at this photo, maybe you can find a dinosaur bone.

Currently, if you find a dinosaur bone, you can pick it up, but it belongs to the government. For details on what the law says, try this link which takes you to the Drumheller Terryll museum web site http://www.tyrrellmuseum.com/hrahome.htm

On the way back, the path through the grass leads directly to what we called Bruce's
bump.  Mickey Hill is on the left.
