St. Columbkille Parish is the anchor of the Catholic Faithful in the small farming community of Churdan, Iowa.  Established in 1886, it is a part of the Diocese of Sioux City and continues to be a leading force of local society.

In order to increase the unity of the area, in 1996 St. Patrick Parish in Cedar, approximately 4 miles west of Churdan, became St. Patrick Oratory and was incorporated into the Parish of St. Columbkille.  The two Congregations became one, working together for the good of the area’s Catholic Community.

St. Columbkille Parish offers much for the people in it’s care including Religious Education Classes for the youth of the parish and many organizations which help the current pastor minister to God’s people including The Rosary Society, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, and Knights of Columbus, as well as numerous community minded individuals.
