Tarzan and the Super 7 is my favorite show. To me, no other saturday morning show delivered pound for pound as much action. Imagine an hour and a half of great cartoons plus a serialized space opera with special effects that were about the best technology could offer at the time. Command.

The cartoons too, were aimed at older children and boasted some terrific animation that featured extensive body rotoscoping, effects animation, bizarre, and

stylized scene change devices for each segment. The show made it's debut in 1978 and was an expansion the previous year's Batman/Tarzan Adventure Hour, itself expanded from 1976's Tarzan Lord of the Jungle and the winter 77 replacement show, The New Adventures of Batman. Other segments included Web Woman, Superstrech and Microwoman, Manta and Moray, The Freedom Force, and the live-action Jason of Star Command. Each cartoon delivered the best of what 70s kidvid could offer a child: slam bang, but non-violent action, very high quality animation and special fx, and a pro-social message to boot. Why these shows have never been released is honestly beyond me, but I hope my visitors will enjoy this page.

Web Woman (a.k.a. farmgirl Kelly Webster) cruised air, space, and in one instance, the Earth's core, in her spidery ship, the Web Trac, in search of evil doers. When Kelly rescued

an insect-like alien in distress, she was "endowed with the powers of all insects". She was aided by her fuzzy alien partner Spinner, and frequently consulted her mentor, Scarab, who was based in a space station known as Citadel 7. I vividly recall an episode where Web Woman had to go to the Earth's core and battle Doctor Abyss and his insectoid minions. I would later learn that this story was entitled "The World Within".

Superstretch and Microwoman formed a bizarre shape-shifting husband and wife crime-fighting team. Paired in lightweight adventures, on the surface Chris and Christy Cross were just your average suburban couple. But when they sprang into action, Chris could take virtually

any shape (i.e. a plane, a robot, a rubber ball, a perfect double of a villain, etc.) and Christy could, as her name implied, shrink to microscopic size. Frequently tagging along on their adventures was their little dog, Trouble.

Manta and Moray were a pair of underwater crime fighters, tackling the likes of evil Whalers and poachers. They were accompanied by their pet seal, Whiskers. It remains the

only Tarzan and the Super 7 segment completely lost. If anyone has any idea where they (or complete Tarzan and the Super 7 episodes for that matter) might be found, please contact meThough no episodes have been found to date, fragments show that the segments, like other Super 7 segments, had above average animation for television, and were likely heavily rotoscoped.

The Freedom Force heralded from the "Valley of Time", and was composed of various mythical and legendary heroes, inlcuding Isis (lifted in animated form from the previous live-action Filmation effort), Merlin, Sinbad the Sailor, Hercules (whose character had also been featured as a member of Filmation's earlier series, Space Sentinels) who rode atop

the winged Pegaus, and the young boy Toshi, who could transform in a flash to the mighty Super Samurai, "Giant of Justice". Together the group battled the likes of The Dragon Riders and Morgana, who sought revenge on Hercules.
