Welcome to Spotlight on Youth!
A new concept designed to develop the talents and confidence of youth aged between 11 and 21yrs.
Group activities include workshops which are held monthly and cover a wide range of topics to enable all aspects of theatre  - not just acting to be learned and experienced.
Everyone will be encouraged to participate in all activities, but no-one will be forced to do anything they don't feel ready for. Those who only wish to work backstage will be encouraged to do so.  Youth can learn to direct, stage manage, do lighting and sound, anything they desire and workshops only cost $5- for 1 or $7.50 for 2.  See below for membership fees which cover all of these for the year.
The aim is to teach all aspects of theatre and to build confidence and self-respect. There will be the opportunity to showcase the talents which have been learned, in a production later in the year.
Spotlight Theatre Inc. has generously supported this by including this Youth production as part of their official yearly programme for 2003. This means that participants will give a full-scale production over a two-weekend season with the full support of the company.
The difference between SPOTLIGHT ON YOUTH and other groups is that the participants will have a say in what they do, when they do it and also in the general running of the group.  In this group they also get the chance to write a play themselves to perform, or a character they would like to be.
Membership of the youth group is limited and must be renewed each year.
Any person missing out on a place in the main group will be placed on a waiting list and contacted when a position becomes available, but you are still welcome to attend the monthly workshops if you desire to do so
. Fees for the group are $25- per year which covers all workshops, insurance, production participation a free ticket to all Spotlight productions and much more. There are no other hidden costs.  Fees are $15- for half a year if joining from July onwards.
The group will also meet to discuss the production and rehearse, most probably on the opposite fortnightly Saturday or Sunday afternoons to the workshops, but this is open to discussion by the group and parents.  We also like to have Fri night sessions which are a mixture of rehearsing/socialising and excursions to see other groups perform..
Please contact me if you have any queries or concerns.
Thank you for your time and welcome to Spotlight!
